* Alice's POV *
"So where is this mysterious boy sitting with us for lunch?"
Olivia crossed her arms impatiently, her sleek brown hair falling over her face.
"I don't know! Jeez it's not like I've memorised his timetable so I know which lessons he's at!"
"Okay okay!"
"So what's his name again?"
Penny had now joined the conversation. She was one of those confident, cute girls but she always wanted to know every detail about your life...I loved her though; Olivia, on the other hand, was quite gothic, dark colours, dark soul and all that jazz, but she's a big softie underneath it all- I loved her too. All of my friends were special to me. Maybe it's because they actually stayed with me...
I was used to getting friends then being stabbed in the back later on. But that was all before they came along. They gave me a friendship that lasted. We were a classic girl gang (when the boys weren't there). We would have girly sleepovers, play truth or dare, share dark secrets, go shopping and gossip. They were brilliant, and they always defended me and knew almost everything about me.
Although, sometimes they were maybe a bit too nosey about my past, but they learned, after time, when they were going too far, which I was very grateful for.
"His name is Thomas Hall."
"Ooh the hot new guy!"
Wow, even Olivia's eyes brightened up as Penny spoke ecstatically...
I rolled my eyes at them but smiled at myself when they weren't looking. There was something about Thomas that made me smile. I couldn't get our meeting in the park out of my head. However I was still completely embarrassed with myself that he caught me acting like a lunatic in the rain.
But still...I'm glad he happened to be there. It was a moment I couldn't forget. It almost felt magical...as if it belonged in a dream or a film. My life really did feel like a film sometimes- full of drama, gossiping women and, of course, boys.
Speaking of boys, Luke and Zack were walking towards us. They were both the flirty jokers of the group. Luke looked like a typical surfer dude-blonde messy hair, quite muscular. Zack was more the footballer type- athletic, muscular like Luke but he had black hair.
I felt like I was in the middle of our group. Sometimes I would be a complete girly girl with Olivia and Penny and other times, I would act like a guy with Luke and Zack. We would play Call Of Duty, Hitman, anything that involved guns on my XBox. They were really fun to hang around with, despite the teasing and flirting.
"Hey guys."
"Hey Alice...Olivia, Penny."
Luke had a soft voice, he was always very friendly.
"So where's the guy?"
Zack normally had a deep, teasing voice but today, it was harsher. I know it's stupid but...I could have swore he was jealous of our guest.
"For the hundredth time, I don't know."
"Whatever, we should just go eat without him."
"Well shame because he's walking right this way."
I decided to give Zack a piercing glare as I said this. It was the type of glare that said, be good and shut up at the same time.
Thomas' green eyes caught mine and I immediately began to smile. He walked towards us and I was totally caught up gazing at his shirt, which emphasised his muscles perfectly, that I got a terrible fright when Penny squealed excitedly. I guess she noticed the muscles too...
Yeh I know, I'm acting like a pervert but I couldn't help it and I hate to admit it but he was attractive.
When he reached us I heard low murmurs from the girls. Penny, being Penny, was whispering to Olivia about how "cute" he was and, surprisingly, Olivia smirked in agreement.
"Hey Alice."
His voice almost made the girls faint. I could tell they were head over heels, just like all the other girls at this school. I saw more than the...well, hotness. I knew that there was more to him, something that he wouldn't open up about till he was ready.
"Hi Thomas. These are my friends, Olivia, Penny, Luke, and Zack."
I gestured to every one individually as I announced their names. They all said their hello's when Thomas' eyes looked towards them.
Oh god...sudden awkward moment. We all stood in silence, everyone starting at Thomas while he stared at me and I stared at everyone else. Think, think, think, I need conversation starters, come on. Well obviously I'm not gonna mention the weather, that's possibly the lamest conversation starter ever.
"Well, should we head to lunch."
That was the only thing I could think off, I know, still lame.
We all walked in silence till Penny's nosey side began to take over.
"So how long have you known Alice? How did you's meet? Will you be joining us everyday? Hey, you should really come out with us some time right everyone?"
I sighed heavily and looked at the ground. I knew Penny would burst out with questions but I didn't know she would be eager enough to start straight away!
Thomas heard my sigh and smiled.
"Alice and I haven't really known each other for long. We met when I bumped into her round the back of school and caused her to drop all of her books. Although, we did meet again when-"
"We seen each other again in the park and got chatting. Come on, I'm seriously hungry for lunch and you's are all walking way too slow."
Thomas looked at me with a confused face, but then after seeing my blush, he understood that it wasn't our dance or confrontation that I was ashamed of, it was the fact that he caught me singing and dancing in the rain like a weirdo. He laughed quietly and nudged me back.
I heard another giggle from Penny and knew that there was going to be a long, awkward lunch ahead.
