Chapter 40: Target

* Alice's POV *

"Okay, so remember to keep your finger off the trigger when your trying to aim, not shoot."

"Cough cough Penny."

"Hey! I've never used a gun before okay!"

"You almost killed your own boyfriend."

"I'll kill you in a minute..." Penny mumbled while we all rolled our eyes. It was earlier that day that we had started learning how to shoot a gun and she accidentally pushed on the trigger. The bullet shot past Luke's head and made a hole in the wall.

"Come on guys, concentrate."

"Sorry."

I pulled my gun up and aimed at the target stuck on the wall. My finger pressed down on the trigger and the bullet hit almost in the middle. Everyone clapped silently then took turns. Soon, they would all be ready for what was ahead. Thomas and I were already working on a plan to infiltrate a building that was meant to be where the three men had made another drug lab. I was certain they would be there along with their gang of thugs. Still though, we had to make improvements and have an agreement on who would get which job. These plans were made late at night after a day of training. It wasn't the best way to do things but o was running out of time.

"Thomas, this might not work."

It was about twelve o'clock and Thomas and I were sat at a table while the others ate.

"How come?"

"What if there are guards there? I don't think we're in the right formation."

"Okay...well I suppose me and Zack will be at the front then Luke then you..."

Our discussion continued for a few more hours before we went to sleep. The next day, we had decided that we would tell the group what was happening and attack the in a few days. The thought made me nervous, no, prettified. What if someone got hurt? I couldn't live with myself...I couldn't.

"- we will all enter the building here at the back. The main office, where these guys are most likely to be, is round a few corners but that means there's gonna be a lot of guards around here. Zack, you'll take the right, Luke, you'll take the left and I'll go forward."

"What about us?" Olivia was ready for battle, she always kept a serious face as she listened intensely. Deep inside, I could tell she was scared though...

"You will follow behind."

"Thomas and I will enter the office but only when the corridors are cleared. Then, we will all go in together and get rid of the target."

I had started saying target instead of the men or even their names. I was too focused on the objective and tried not to think about how personal it all was. Another thing I tried not to focus on anymore was the act that we could die. There wasn't a lot I was truly scared of but there were two things that did: the death of someone I cared about, and being taken away from Thomas. These two fears were very likely to happen in a few days and that made me want to cry every second of each day. Therefore, I had to concentrate on the actual plan, not the possible outcomes.

"It'll be okay." Thomas was squeezing my hand tightly and looking into my eyes deeply.

I couldn't answer him back because I knew that he was wrong but I didn't want to argue about it any further than what we already had. Also, I didn't want to spend, perhaps, my last days with Thomas I'm worry, so I simply smiled at him and pecked his lips.

"I know your scared, but everything will be fine and this will all be over soon."

"...yeh."

"I mean, we've got the plan set and we've got all the equipment. And by the looks of everyone's fighting, I think we'll be fine."
