Chapter 12: Self Defence

* Thomas' POV *

I stayed awake all night with my eyes wide open- I hardly blinked.

My moment with Alice left me craving her attention. I had to see her as soon as possible...but what if she felt awkward around me? I should've though it through before trying to kiss her. What if I jeopardised our friendship? I would rather have her as just a friend then lose her forever or be awkward around her. But then again, what is she feels the same? She did lean in too...or maybe that was just in the heat of the moment.

These thoughts played on my mind till I woke up in a sitting position, realising I had fallen asleep.

The weeks past and Alice and I engaged in friendly conversations and banter. I never got an opportunity to talk about what happened at the beach, but at the same time, I wasn't sure if I wanted to.

Ever since I came so close to her delicate lips, I noticed how beautiful she was every time I saw her. It was hard not to pull her into my embrace as she got more beautiful every single day.

"Thomas? Thomas?"

"Huh what?"

"Your day dreaming again!" Luke snickered at me.

"Oh right, yeh, sorry. I was lost in thought."

"Hey Thomas, Brittany's staring at you again." Zack was pointing out to the girl across the the food hall, she was completely fake. She was covered in what might as well have been luminous orange paint and creme foundation. Her lips were a bright pink as well as her cheeks, and her eyebrows looked like they had been drawn on with charcoal. Brittany was a stereotypical platinum blonde. She could be pretty if she didn't wear all the makeup and tried to put her skirt down.

During the last two weeks, she had been clinging to me like the girls back home. She just couldn't keep her long, sharp, magenta nails off me. I couldn't help but get annoyed at her when she tried, and failed, to flirt with me.

There were a few moments where I had caught Alice's eyes roll whenever she came over to us.

"Ugh, I wish she would leave me alone."

I saw Alice smile to herself.

"Yeh, she can't keep her manicured hands off of you!"

Olivia hated Brittany the most out of our group, she couldn't be bothered with all of the bs that came with the Brittany package.

"Anyway, guys why don't we go out at the weekend. This new club just opened and we need to check it out!"

I soon learned that Luke was always the planner of things, he would come up with ideas almost every day of where we should go and what we should do.

"Oh yeh, I think it's called Luxx?"

"Yeh!"

"Ok, Luke's right, that nightclub looks good."

"Right then, looks like we're going to Luxx at the weekend!"

"Woo." We all laughed and forgot about Brittany, who was probably still staring at me with big eyes.

When the weekend came, Zack and I got dressed at Luke's house.

"So do you think the girls will look good tonight?"

Luke smirked at us, Zack and I both sighed at the same time in response.

"What? Ooh Thomas you've never seen them when we go to clubs, it's not something you would want to miss."
