* Alice's POV *

Darkness. That's all I could see. Or maybe I wasn't seeing anything at all- I certainly couldn't feel anything. Was I dead? Or was I in a dream?

Maybe...maybe not.

It felt like ages had passed before I finally did feel something. I wasn't sure what it was but it was as if I had been brought back to life. I could hear things around me like the irritating beep of something next to me and I could feel a throbbing sensation in my leg. When I tried to shift into a more comfortable position, I realised my leg was actually being held down by something that felt like a cast. Also, when I tried to move my hands so they could pull out some kind of drain in my nose, they were held back when I felt the pull of something actually inside of them.

I felt so confused as I tried to open my eyes to see where I was and what was happening to me. At first, they wouldn't open but eventually they did. A bright light blinded my eyes but they were able to focus after I blinked a few times. The room in front of me was cramped and smelled like bleach. There was a chair in the corner and the window had curtains that matched it's pattern.

Then, I noticed the annoying beeping sound again and turned to look at it. The monitor had a straight line going up and down with every beep and the things that were in my arms and nose came from the drain at the side of my bed. I was in a hospital. Ugh, I really hated hospitals.

The door opposite my uncomfortable bed opened and a nurse came through.

"Ah, your awake."

I stared blankly back at her and then the doctor that came into the room behind her.

"Miss...Green, you've been in an accident." The man scanned over the clipboard with my information on.

"You lost a lot of blood from your leg wound and you've got a few bruises here and there. Apart from that, your going to be out of here in a few days."

I wasn't listening to the doctor's words. Instead, I was more focused on the sudden memories that flashed through my mind. Every time I blinked, I saw the bullet hit Thomas' perfect figure and my heart broke every time it did. Tears started running down my face as I stared forward, not noticing the door open again as my friends entered the room.

"Miss Green? Miss?"

"Alice your awake, thank god."

"Alice?"

I hadn't noticed I was hyperventilating till the beep on the heart monitor started jumping erratically along with the gasps of air I tried to inhale.

"I think we're going to have to sedate her."

"Thomas?" My voice was a whisper at first.

Everyone looked at each other and the doctor nodded while the nurse went into a drawer to get some medication.

"He's not...no...he can't be...no...no...no!"

I ripped the needles and tubes out of my wrists, hands, and nose then started getting out of the bed, ignoring the shooting pain in my leg.

Once I was up, the nurse quickly pressed a button and more doctors filled the room while my friends were rushed out. I could see their shocked faces as they watched me from outside the room through the window.

"Please...no! Thomas?! Thomas come back! Thomas!"

I was shouting now and pushing the doctors away when they tried to put me back onto the bed.

"Don't leave me! You can't leave me! He can't leave me!"

I had grabbed onto the nurse now and shook her.
