Chapter 34: The Game

* Thomas' POV *

Wednesday, which we had off from school, was spent watching movies with Alice in my arms. No matter what I did with Alice, it would always be the best way to spend my day as long as she was with me.

Thursday came quickly and it was the day I had my rugby match. The team and I had practised hard for the moment we would get to play against the other high scoring team. I remembered the day I tried out for the school's team, they said they 'saw potential' but rugby was only a hobby for me.

"How are you feeling?"

"Huh? Oh yeh, good."

"We're gonna thrash this team."

"Hopefully."

Liam, my teammate kept asking me if I was nervous and stuff but I really wasn't. Well, not about the match... I had something planned, something for Alice. I just hoped it wouldn't backfire.

"Thomas!"

Speaking of Alice, she skipped over to me and jumped into my arms for a hug. I noticed she was wearing shorts and a crop top. Her hair was quite curly and had a ribbon tied in it. After I lifted up her sunglasses and put them on top of her head, I looked into her eyes before kissing her soft lips.

"Thomas come on, you need to come to the changing room."

I tried to block out everyone and focus on Alice's lips.

"Dude!"

"Thomas, I know your loving this chick right now but we got a match."

I slowly pulled away from Alice and put her down to the ground.

"I guess I've got to go."

"You'll do great, I'll be watching and cheering for you. Jeez, you'll probably hear me screaming loud enough to bust everyone's ears."

We chuckled quietly together while my team huffed and started going to the changing rooms.

"I love you."

"Love you too."

"Damn...I wanna girlfriend."

Alice giggled and walked away while I rolled my eyes and punched Ethan, my other teammate's, arm.

"You guys ruined the moment."

"Well you shouldn't have been making out with your hot girlfriend, it made us jealous."

"Good."

We laughed and headed into the room to get changed. About half an hour later, we were called out onto the field. I walked out with my team and was shocked by how big the stadium really was, despite the fact that it was only a local one. For what I could see, every seat was filled and the noise was unbelievably loud as everyone clapped and shouted. The other team walked out onto the field and stood in front of us. We could hear probably the whole school booing them while their school tried to clap over the top of it.

I looked around trying to see her face- Alice. She told me she would be in the middle row on the left. My eyes swept over the chairs looking for her blonde hair and blue eyes but there wasn't any time to look around any more because I had to get into position for the game to begin.

When it started, I backed away and got ready to receive the ball. When I was free from the other player, Will threw the ball across the field to me. It was quite high in the air so I had to jump and catch it. Thankfully, I did and started sprinting towards the opponents goal area. My teammates backed me up by getting into receiving positions and I was able to dodge a few attacks but not for long. A guy with his hair tied back into a bun was able to tackle me to the ground. Before I could fall and hit the grass, I was able to  throw the ball to Josh but it was intercepted.
