Chapter 4

It was in the afternoon, the people who lived in the Yucayeque rebuild their homes after they were destroyed by the Spanish invasion. Everyone at the village were working hard even the Cacique who ran it all . Macho even have came around helping and fixing his own Bohio outside of the rest of the Yucayeque, joining being apart of the Yucayeque. Everyone thanked the gods that the Spanish have not brought more warriors. Oromico has gathered some of the other Caciques who wanted to fight and rebel. So Zaccheaus was busy in the meeting for the rebellion. Luciana, she have tried everything in her power to impress Zaccheaus. She have dressed how every Nabori was no cloths unless if you were married. Zaccheaus, did not complain for that matter. Luciana have learned how to cook some of the Yucayeque meals, also she have been working around helping the mothers of the tribes.

I look to see Oromico, he is talking about rebellion with Arasibo another Cacique. I get distracted and do not hear about it, Luciana keeps getting my mind. She started to act more like a Taino then how she was back in the manor. I liked her even more, she was not used to way we have dressed but she got use to it after a week.
As the meeting was over Oromico looked mad, I walked to him. I see Luciana, she smiles I wave. Then he looks at me madly, then I shrug he says " Datiao you are not paying attention."
I looked at him, I said " sorry Datiao I have a lot on my mind." He looked at me, he then shook his head,
He told me " You keep looking at her, but you do not claim her and wed her." I look away, he was right. I cannot be with her only way is that I must claim her, or the other Nabori will act on her.
I look back at her, I can understand, what Oromico told me. I should ask her tonight, when we go to sleep. I see Macho is playing with the Children of the Yucayeque. He started to play his instrument to show them music, he knows how to play.
I go to Luciana, she looks at me. Then she blushes, I tell her " Can we talk later it's important." She stop what she did, she looked at me.
" We can talk now." She told me, I told her to follow me to the Bohio. She nodded, then we went to the the Bohio. She layed in the Bohio, I looked at her. She did not look at me, I looked at her. She said " ¿De que hablamos? ( what do we talk about? )".
I look at her and sigh, " Um mi amor ( my love ) if I do not claim you, the other Nabori would try to." She turned quickly to face me then she blushed. She then nodded, she told me hat what she had to do.
" You must be my Liani ( wife )."her eyes widened, then she blushed. She did not look at me, I walk to her. She then came to me, looked in my eyes.
"Then we have to..." She trailed off, I looked and I  nodded. She was quiet for about a moment the she continued " By doing that we can avert them?" I nodded.
She said " Um then when?" She asked rubbing her palms. She looked at me her eyes telling me she was nervous.
" Ahora, ( now )" I told her. She then blushed.
Everything went dark.

A day later......

"Finally I can wear something!" Yelled Luciana. She was moving her cloth, she looked really excited to have her own cloth. After all she is wedded to me, she could wear it. It was decorated to fit like a dress but the colors were brown with black. It was stitched with some tribal designs. She asked me excitedly " How do I look?" Wanting to hear my answer
" Te ves Bella ( you look adorable )" I told her, she smiled and walk to me hugged me. I looked at her, she now my Liani. I feel happy, she then kisses me. She heads out of the Bohio.
I step out right behind her, she was walking to help some mothers like usually. I see that the men look at her, they get mad. Then they see me and I wave, they stop being mad and salute.
I walk to see Oromico he is quiet, I get closer. He nods with approval. He looked at me, he then said " Now are you going to listen and fight?" I looked to the ground and nodded. He then said " You might die, even now if you don't even fight. You'll never life in happiness with her." He looked at me then he put his hand on his knife.
" What would it accomplish if we were to destroy all the Guami'ken's towns?" He looked mad and put the knife back into its sheathe. Then I continued " What is the true purpose of doing all of this?"
He sighed, then he repeated " To regain control of this land we can contact other Tribes from the other lands." He stood up, his hair falling down. He walked closer, he muttered " To exact what they have done to my Natiao! ( brother! ) all of them."
I looked at him, it looks like he is being affected by the thought of revenge. I don't want him to hurt my Luciana, I tell him " You are being affected by a Boya ( evil spirit )" he looked at me as if I was crazy.
" I am not!" He said, I looked at him, he then told me " If your thinking of me attacking your wife, then no I am not." He looked and walked away, I felt relieved. I did not want him to hurt her.
I look to see that everyone is gathering around Macho, I don't know what is happening? But I just walk over there to hear music.
I see that someone else is playing music with Macho , it's Luciana. She is playing something, it looks like a gourd that was scraped to have lines on it. She is rubbing it with a metal piece making a scratchy sound.
It sounded like a good beat like Macho says, I listened, he still play his Cuatro. Wow I see that it sounds good.
I see that everyone dances, I like the beat it's a good danceable beat. I have not dance before but I danced a little.
Everyone was cheering that I engage in dancing with the tribe. Everyone looked at me, then I see that they began to make cheers and shouts for me, then the music had stopped. I see that Macho looks at me, then he says
" ¡El mejor Cacique! (The best Cacique)" then he started to play his cuatro. I look and remember what it is to remember a true Cacique.

Flashback ......

It was the afternoon, couple months after the death of Agueybana . The brother Gueybana who currently called himself Agueybana the second. Who currently lived with in the Yucayeque. Zaccheaus have became older and have worked out more. The Nitaino was enlisted to check if the Guami'ken are actually gods. They have rounded about a few dozens Guazabara to take out a specific target Diego Salcedo. The legendary conquistador, taking him out would prove to be quite a challenge if unskilled.
Diego Salcedo the legendary Conquistador, he was finished with a day of work. He was visiting Puerto Rico during the week, he enjoyed staying at the island. The year was 1511 he was leaving the town of Caparra to go venture for a river , he heard rumors of a river where female Tainos should be bathing. He have also heard that there was gold in the river.
He took his compass and directed himself to the river with the help of his taino slave. He was away from the town, far from even being close to it. He have been wondering how it would be to see gold in the river. He thought it would be good to take it and sell it to the king. Also thought he might also seek a little something on the way to the find the gold.
As he continued to the River the Taino slave looked at the slave Owner. He thought that he was lecher for believing there might be female Tainos at the river and actually heading there to check.
It took a while to head to the river because it was hidden, it was not recorded by any other map but the one handed to Diego. He followed the map accordingly to the river. He was not to the exact spot, but he headed up the river to find the spot he was close.
He heard talking, he motioned his slave to hear. He translated, then he went to proceed to find the girls and the gold.
He step out, Diego stood tall. Trying to look mighty to impress. Unfortunately, to the slave he thought he looked like a fool. He went to see all the Taino Women. He walked to proceed, he said " Anyone can give me gold?" Then the slave translated. All the females began to murmur something.
Diego asked his slave " what there saying?" The slave looked at him. He who truly understand what were hey saying.
He lied " They want you to get closer." Diego thought, he is a conquistador after all. He went to join them put was hit in the back of the head by Zaccheaus.
Zaccheaus forced the head of Diego Salcedo, trying to drown him. He began to struggle for air, his lungs and diaphragm moving to have some air in his body. Only thing that was going in was the river water, Diego started to suffocate. He thought was to what he have heard about the rumors of Taino women bathing.
He then started to fight and move his hand desperately, he managed to grab a rock. But he then went dark.

Zaccheaus look to see if the man was alive, he touch him, then cut his throat. Nothing, the others have been conversing that he might rise in tree days. So they waited.....

Three days later

Zaccheaus woke up, he looked at his knife. Then he grabbed his Baira ( bow ). He got of the tree, and check on the body. It has not risen, but it has given a putrid smell. There was flies around, maggots on the flesh. All the Nabori began to see that he had not rose.
"Agueybana is right there not gods." Said one of the Nabori. Zaccheaus, took his knife and cut the head of the corpse. Cut of all the skin to leave a skull which took about ten minutes.
They left the river, and headed back to the Yucayeque........

It took an hour to get to the Yucayeque, when Zaccheaus and the Guazabara came back. All the Tribesman came to them around, escorting the Nitaino first. He went, passing all the tribesman. He stopped in front of the Bohio. Agueybana the second came out, Zaccheaus dropped the Skull on the Batey .
" It's true, The Guami'ken are not gods but man." He said, he then said " Agueybana, let me keep this knife as a token." Agueybana the second nodded.
Later........

The Skull that was on the Batey was later used to play a game with the nabori. All tribesman watched, the Nitaino sitting alone. Everyone whispering about him in secret.
A Girl who always talked to Zaccheaus came up to him, it was Cimu'lia. A girl who was fond of Zaccheaus. She stand tall the same hieght of the Nitaino. She had black hair, she was not married.
Today she looked mad, she was mad at Zaccheaus, she yelled "You murderer," then she left. The cacique heard this, he sat next to Zaccheaus. He said " Forget her, you are a man today. As well as my Nitaino."

Flashback ends

I look back to see everyone looking at me. I smile, everyone cheers, I remembered about the day Cimu'lia left me after I asked her. But I shrug I have Luciana who is my wife now.
