Chapter 11

They were on their way back to the manor by carriage. Inside the carriage Luciana was sitting with Zaccheaus on the same seat, while Alonso sat next to Estrella. Alonso was happy that he had finally escaped the life of being a slave for the Spanish. With the help of Estrella and her family. Estrella was talking with him about the infusion of his culture how was it like while she talked about her cultures as well. Luciana grabbed Zaccheaus's hand tightly, she was happy that it was all over for today. She is happy that she saved another life from slavery, she then remembered about Zaccheaus when he was a slave in the past. She remembered everything that happened, she was smiling and blushing from the thought of it.
She turned to him to look at him in the eyes. He smiled then asked "Nanichi, mi amor what your thinking about?" Estrella and Alonso stopped talking about their conversation and watched Zaccheaus and Luciana.
Luciana started to get closer to Zaccheaus, she leaned her head on his shoulder. Then she grabbed his hand. He looked at her, smiling he just wants her to say it to them.
" I remember the day when I saved your father from being sold to a harsh place, Estrella. He was whipped for being who he was and for how he was taught , also Pitted against all the slaves in a ring. I brought him to my home which is ours now, then taught him Spanish myself." Spoked Luciana breaking the silence. Estrella was excited to hear about her parents past, she was eager to learn more about it. She loved learning the history of her parents.
" How did you fell in love with baba?" Asked Estrella joining the conversation, waiting for an answer. Luciana eyes widened then she blushed she looked away. She gripped Zaccheaus's hand hardly. She was nervous from to answer Estrella's question.
" Um I fell in love with your father, uh after the first month he started living with me. But I did not knew if he liked me." She looked at Estrella then looked away, then Zaccheaus faced her quickly he was in shocked. She looked at him in the eyes.
" Wait you liked me? Before I asked? When?" Asked Zaccheaus excitedly. He was wondering what was the time and month where they did private things without her father knowing. Wondering when as well calculating when was the time she had fell in love with him secretly.
" I uh, Cuando me salvaste ( when you saved me) but when I wanted to repay you. I ended up loving you even more." She said stuttering, she was blushing and looking at him. She kept getting nervous with every word she said.
" So what did she repaid you baba?" Asked Estrella, she was really curious about what her mother did to repay her father. Zaccheaus stayed quiet, Luciana blushed even more. She looked away, not wanting to say what happened or what she actually repaid. She waited for her Esposo ( husband) to make his decision. Waiting to see if they would tell them what happened between Luciana and Zaccheas.
Zaccheaus looked at Luciana he gulped, he decided to tell her. " Well your mother was in trouble like she had said, and I saved her from ending up getting hurt. She wanted to repay me for what I did, so she decided that we should do little private things in the room where I resided during the time."
Estrella blushed, she then looked away from her parents. She waited then asked " Um how did you fell in love with Bibi?" Zaccheaus look at her, then he smiled. He was glad that she wanted to know his side of falling in love too.
" I fell in love with your mother when she saved me, I started to feel for her which I did not knew if it was allowed during the time. Then after she repaid me I thought she did not like me after an incident that had happen after the first months." Zaccheaus said. Luciana looked at him.
" You liked me three years ago before you told me?" Luciana asked curiosity wanting to know. He nodded then she said " I still liked you but I was to not allowed to show it, I was forced." Zaccheaus stayed quiet, she had never told him this before. Who forced her to not show it?
" What happened?" Asked Alonso joining in, he was literally so focused to the conversation. He waited just as Estrella waited to hear.

Flashback......

Two days have passed after the incident which Zaccheaus was forcibly kicked out of the Manor by Luciana's father. He stayed at the shelter decorating the exterior of the home to his own style, Luciana did not see him for a day and he was wondering if she would be seeing him today. He kept wondering when he would see her today or never, he then saw two Yoruba men heading towards him. They shaked his hand, the same slave that he talk to before looked at him. It looked like he wanted to ask a question. Zaccheaus asked "what happened?" do they needed any help?
" Friend your a brave man, you did it again with Luciana but in the home of the Master. Are you smitten with her?" Asked the man, the other man was smirking.
He began thinking about what the man said then he nodded, the man wished him good luck with dealing with that hardship. Zaccheaus wondered why the man had said that to him. He turned to see Luciana heading to him. She looked nice, She walked to him slowly, she did not talked to him but he opened the door for her so she can enter the house.
Both of them entered, he closed the door behind him. He grabbed her from behind, she let him do that. She started to turn around to face him.
She kissed him, Zaccheaus was enjoying it, secretly Luciana was as well,  he was about to start like usual. Already ready to start everything with Luciana. Luciana eyes opened as she remembered what her father had said before. She stopped him from beginning, she felt regretful as well sad in doing so. Zaccheaus was confused but he thought she wanted him to continue.
He kissed her, she put her hands on his chest. She could not resist the feeling of it but she pushed him away. He let her go after she pushed him. Zaccheaus did not want to force himself on her. She said " We can not be doing this. This is bad and sinful, I think we should just stop. Mejor si lo dejamos así ( better if we just leave it like that) and if my father notices us he will shoot you without hesitation."
Zaccheaus looked down then he thought for a while for a solution to the problem. When she talked like that she something was bothering her. He asked " Podemos hacer ( can we do) It one moré time? He asked looking at her in the face, she stayed quiet. She felt really guilty, she really did want to. But her father might come and barge in on them. She was about to deny till she looked at him in the eyes and could not say no.
" Ok but where would we do it?" She asked waiting for an answer from him. Zaccheaus waited for a while, he was thinking about which place.
" At the Asubu tree." Zaccheaus replied, she then nodded in agreement so they headed out for the Asubu. No one knew where was the Asubu tree only Zaccheaus and Luciana. They had left to the Asubu tree.

Later they had reached the Asubu tree, Luciana was extremely nervous she liked him. She kept looking at him, wondering what it be like to marry him. She wanted to do it with him, but she did not know that something might happen to them because of it. Zaccheaus looked smiling at her, inside he really wants to be with her, he was planning something. He decided since he might never do it again with her. He would try to make her have the best day of her life. So she can love him for it, She came closer to him, they started.

End of flashback

"So that is what happened" spoked Alonso, Zaccheaus looked at his wife. he smiled while looking at her she was calm. She always kept smiling when he looked at her. Then Alonso said " So you two got in trouble for what you both done?"
Zaccheaus looked serious, he did not even talked. He moved his left hand to pull up his shirt. His chest showed the sign of the Yucayeque. Then he pointed to a scar under the symbol on his chest, it looked like a knife pierced his left rib cage.
Luciana put her hand on his chest then she glided her hand to the scar. She remembered the day what had happened to Zaccheaus. He looked at Luciana, she looked away blushing. He put the shirt down.
The carriage stopped, Zaccheaus and Alonso exited, Zaccheaus was holding the door so Luciana and Estrella can exit easily. They headed to the manor with Alonso. They entered, they all headed to the Living room. Luciana's father came and joined with them.
Alonso introduced himself to Luciana's father, they both shook hands then they sat at the sofa. Luciana sat on Zaccheaus's lap, Estrella took a seat on the sofa next to Luciana's father.
" Que Vamos ( what are we) going to learn about today?" Asked Luciana's father. They sat, Zaccheaus look at Luciana, she smiled at him. He hugged her, she hugged him back.
" About the scar." He then smiled, he also felt guilty for actually causing it. He looked at Alonso he looked back. Estrella was curious as well, she was going to ask till Luciana's father cut her off
"I stabbed him, I was furious when I saw what happened with Luciana on that day." Said Luciana's father, he looked at Luciana who was serious.
" Does it relate to what we were talking about earlier in the Carriage Sr. Zaccheaus?" Asked Alonso. Zaccheaus nodded. Alonso stayed quiet for a while. He was thinking about some things about what he had learned. It was all so confusing! He was glueing everything together he then realized what had happens in the past to Zaccheaus.

Flashback.....

It was thirty minutes after Zaccheus and Luciana had reached the Ausubu tree to do it for the last time. They had finished, usually it took about fifteen minutes but Zaccheaus wanted it to be longer. He saw that Luciana was crawling to him, she got on him. She kissed him, then they began to hear yelling. It was Luciana's father, he was enraged to se his daughter in the hands of the Taino. As well as she wearing nothing on, he was speed walking towards them. He was holding something in his hands, Luciana got off from Zaccheaus. She got her dress then proceeded in putting her dress on.
" Papá por favor ( father please) don't hurt him!" Yelled Luciana. She was pulling him from reaching Zaccheaus. Zaccheaus got up, Luciana's father pushed Luciana. She felled to the ground, she pushed herself back up.
Luciana's father walked to him, then he stabbed Zaccheaus. Zaccheaus looked down to see that he was stabbed, he started to bleed. Everything went dark. He did not even had a dream.

Later.......

Zaccheaus woken up to see Luciana sleeping while sitting, she had her head on his bed while the rest of not on the bed. He tried to move, but his chest began burning. She did not notice she was maybe really sleeping. He picked her up, then he laid her in front of him. She woke up then stared at him, he smiled but his wound reopened and started to bleed.
" ¡Zaccheaus! ¡¿Porque haces esto!? ( Zaccheaus why do you did that?" Asked Luciana realizing that the wound had reopened. She proceeding bandaging his chest, he looked at her lips, the ones he wanted to keep kissing till the end of time. He remembered what Luciana's father did to him. He wondered if he did anything to Luciana.
He asked " ¿Porque esta dormiendo en mi cama? ( why are you sleeping on my bed) " she looked at him then she blushed. He could not handle it, he just kissed her she stayed for a second savoring the movement. She then pushed him back hardly, she did not talk to him about the kiss.
She said " My father said that if I helped you, I'm out of the house till your feeling all better." She looked at him. Zaccheaus was sad but also mad. Her father did not let her back inside the house. Zaccheaus then laid back down, he looked at her and motioned her to join him.
" Come on, you won't sleep. Mejor si duermes ( better if you fall asleep)" Zaccheaus said trying not to be mean or anything. He liked her but maybe she did not want him to kiss her. She laid next to him, he put an arm around her. She did not mind, he brought her close. He whispered in her ears " Thank you for saving my insignificant life."
