Chapter 12

6 years later

     Everyone had gotten older, some even way of it way older. Things have happened in the island as the years passed. The fighting of the Tainos between the Spanish have gradually stop. The Caribs were considered now cannibals by the Spanish by rumors the had spread, the French had invaded the island and had destroyed everything in the island besides the capital. Zaccheaus was thankful that everyone in the manor or who worked at the manor. Decided to built a wall around the Manor that would suffice to negate the French from attacking.  Only the fields were destroyed by the French but it was rebuilt the year later. Zaccheaus had started to have more muscle, he had been working out for days just exercising to be stronger. He feels just as he was in his prime days of the age 17. Luciana also joined him in training, she looked more young and athletic.
      Estrella turned 16 her hair grew longer reaching her waist. She also mastered her father's tongue as well as her mother's tongue. When Estrella always left the manor to buy some goods or books, Men of the town would stare at her wanting her but she was already paired with a suitor, she fell in love with him. His name Alonso, she fell in love with him after everything that had happened. He was just like her in everything but with different heritage and ideas. Alonso grew taller and more masculine, he started to develop a deep voice. He worked at the fields with the Yoruba, sometimes speaking in their native tongue. Alonso currently teaches Estrella Yoruba in trade for her father's tongue to him.
      Luciana's father have turned old, he got more wrinkles and more gray hair. He is considered an old man or Grandpa now. He does not work anymore since his pristine years have left him. Not having anything to do, he goes teaches Alonso things. It is July 24th Zaccheaus, Luciana, and Luciana's father had to leave to attend a ballroom dance that was catered by some of the well known individuals there.
      They all had packed to get ready to first leave in the morning, Luciana went to Estrella's room. She entered the room, Estrella was just reading a book. Luciana came the. Sat on the edge of the bed. Estrella stopped reading the book, she looked at her mother. She smiled, then she waited and asked " What happened Bibi?"
    Luciana smiled then rubbed her hand on Estrella's head then she said " Mañana tu papá y abuelo y yo vamos por seis días ( Tomorrow your father, grandpa and I are leaving for six days) behave with Alonso. If anything happens both of you stick together." Luciana got up from the bed to look out at the darkening Sky. "Also I do not want you sleeping with each other while your father and I are gone."
      Estrella blushed, she knew that her mother let him stay in her room sometimes even for the night. Literally when he does, Luciana always tells Estrella to leave the door open so Zaccheaus can check on them once and a while. Estrella said " Pero Mamá tu Puede confiar a mi ( but mother you can trust me) If we do I promise to make him not try anything."
        Zaccheaus entered the room, he heard what Estrella said. He then started to laugh, Luciana and Estrella turned around to see why he was laughing. Zaccheaus then replied " Estrella it does not matter if we are here or not. If Uara' ( you) love someone Uara' might do something for him even though  Uara' not allowed to."
      Estrella then noticed the reason and nodded, she then asked " You really think so?" Zaccheaus nodded, he knew this because what he does with Luciana. He do anything for her even if it's not allowed to. Luciana and Zaccheaus left the room giving good nights. Then they headed to their room.
       Alonso sneaked in to Estrella's room. She was looking outside the dark window. The room was dark, he hugged her from behind. She turned to face him, he asked " How are you mi ife ( my love)" she smiled at him.
      She put her head on his chest then said " I'm fine, I actually was just heading to bed now." He put his chin on her head. Then he let her go, kissed her then they hold hands. He then left the room, Estrella went to bed.

   In the morning l wake up, Luciana has not woke up yet. I see that she is not facing me, then I crawl behind her quietly. I grab her gently and cuddle with her, I then close my eyes to wait so she can get up. It takes about half an hour but she wakes up in my arms. She looks, she grabs my hands then alerts me that she is awake.
      I get up, we both grab our things to get ready for the carriage waiting for us. Luciana's father was already inside the carriage as they both entered the carriage. Luciana waved to Estrella from inside the carriage. They headed out and left the manor
