I sat in the corner of my couch, with my hand running through my hair. Thoughts ran through my mind about what Daniel had said, or how Elliot had done everything that Daniel said he would do.
"How did he know?" I whisper the words to myself, while staring, blankly at the TV in front of me.
"How did who know what?" I jump, turning my head to look at Ava. I point my finger at her and my voice becomes stern.
"You have got to stop doing that!" She sits down on the other side of the couch. I had almost forgotten she was staying with me, she was always so quiet, too quiet, for my liking.
"You didn't answer my question."
"Uh, last time I checked this was my house and you were staying with me. Besides, how'd younger into my house, anyway when I was gone?" She shrugs.
"The day you moved in here, mom and dad took your keys while you weren't looking and made a copy." I let out a frustrated sigh.
"Good to know." Focusing on the TV, I try to redirect my thoughts.
"Jessa, I'm not as bad as I use to be.....I'm a changed person, now." I laugh a little and shake my head.
"I'll believe it when I see it."
Getting off of the couch, I leave her sitting there and make my way upstairs to my bedroom, making sure to lock my door. Walking over to my bed, I lay on it, staring at the ceiling.
I wonder if Daniel hadn't been at the café, would I be laying in this same position right now, heartbroken that Elliot hadn't called me yet. Is it possible that Elliot would've pulled me and I would've just been strung along? How long would it have lasted?
I lay on my side and stare at the empty side of my bed, one of my hands rest behind my head, while the other strokes the empty side of the comforter. I breathe deeply. "Will I ever find someone?"
Sighing, I close my eyes and imagine what it would be like to not get played and actually have a relationship. My hand gently strokes the empty side of my bed, as my thoughts race.
"You look beautiful, as always." The man of my dreams stands in the doorway, smiling at me. The sound of his voice warms, even my coldest thoughts.
"Why, thank you. I try." He walks towards the bed, where I lay, with my hand running through my hair.
"You're welcome, but not only are you beautiful, you're hardworking, confident, trusting. I know I can always count on you when I need you. You finish your business with such skills, and so thoroughly. I don't know what I did to deserve you, but I promise you, I'll do it again, if it means keeping you, until my time on the planet runs out."
