Danny went back to the laptop and I sat across from him, trying not to fall asleep. Pulling my knees to my chest, I hugged them, tight. "Jess, you know you can go into my room and sleep if you want to. I don't mind." Danny suggested.
"No, thanks. I'm fine." I watched Danny, exhausted and every now and then he would glance at me.
"Jessa, are you sleep?" I opened my eyes, that I hadn't realized were closed and shook my head.
"Nope." He laughed a little.
"Yes, you are. Jess, just go to sleep." I let my head lay back and closed my eyes. Shortly after, I felt my whole body being lifted and carried away.
Trying to open my eyes, I looked up to see Danny carrying me. Closing my eyes again, I snuggled up close to him. Feeling my body being lowered, I was greeted by the presence of soft comfort.
When I wake up, I awake to a warm bed and the comfort of a blanket. The room I was in was big the walls were each covered in graffiti, but not just any graffiti. It was a galaxy, with names and sayings, sprawled around like stsrs. Everything around me was art and I was just the small speck that set amongst it all.
Rising to my feet, I slowly walked toward the door and turned the handle. When I opened it, I had a clear view of the living room and there I saw Danny, still typing away.
I exited the room and made my way into the living room to Danny. Reclaiming my spot on the couch, Danny never looked up at me, he just continued to type and he looked beat.
"I knew you were tired. You looked as if you were going to fall over." He glanced at me and smirked.
"You've been at this the whole time? You should take a break." Danny shook his head.
"I can't this is too important." Getting up, I slowly walked over to him and lifted the laptop off of his lap.
"You need a break, Daniel, you're going to burn yourself out." Danny took a deep breath and rubbed his face with his hands. I put the laptop down on the table and watched a stressful Danny.
Walking over to the large, glass window, I stared out into the evening sky. My thoughts raced around in my head like a tornado, chasing itself, silly. "Did you paint all of that, in your room?"
"Yeah, all of the paint designs on those walls were made in due time." He turns on the TV and lays back.
"You're a true artist." I turned to face him.
"Thank you." There was an akward silence and I tried to glance at Daniel without him knowing. "You know what, it's getting late. I should probably go." I go to pick up my purse and my phone and head towards the door.
"Do you want to go, Jessa?" Stopping in my tracks, I take a minute and slowly turn, to face Danny.
"What?" He rises to his feet, but keeps his head facing the floor.
"Do you really want to go? You know you don't have to leave, Jess. You can stay as long as you want." Looking over my shoulder, I try to figure out exactly what to do. Should I go off of logic, or off action?" Looking back at Danny, I take a long blink and half laugh. Danny's eyes pierce through me like I was a test subject.
"Uh...I-I don't know. Do want me to stay?" Danny walks closer to me, and the closer he gets, the more tension I feel rising.
He walks behind me, turning so that my back his to him. Gently, he pulls my hair back behind my shoulder and a chill shivers down my spine. His lips move in close toward my ear and he takes a moment before speaking. "Oh, I think you do know."
