I've hated surprises ever since I was little. My parents would always try to surprise me and my siblings. Unlike me, my brother and sister thrived off surprises. They'd cheer and smile, treasuring whatever they could out of it. Me, on the other hand, I'd try to decide if I was going to prentend I loved it, or let my hatred show. You only get one second, one second to decide if you're going to spare someone's feelings, or crush them in the act.

"Jessa, I saw you. I saw you at the club." Danny stared at me as if he knew some marvelous secret and was waiting on me to tell the truth. Moving past him, I headed over to the fridge for a bottle of water. "You want to explain?"

I took a seat at the kitchen counter, taking a quick sip from the bottle and then screwing the top back on. I tried to keep a calm demeanor around Danny. "Of course you saw me at the club. We spoke to each other, remember? I was sick."

"Yeah, well, apparently. You come home looking like that?" Truth is, my blood boiled in my veins at Danny's comment. Why is it that if a girl doesn't dress up, wearing heels she can barely walk in and make-up caked all over her face to the point where she's unrecognizable, she's considered ugly?

"Look, is there some reason you're here? You know, other than just to criticize me?" His jaw tightened and I wasn't really sure how to take it. Was he upset with me? Obviously, if he took the time out to come all the way to my house.

Danny didn't say a word, he just stared at me and by now, I was quite tired of all of his games. "Why where you at the club, Jessa?" My eyes rolled heavily.

"The real question is, why wasn't I invited to the club, Danny? Man, you guys tell me I'm family and then flip the script on me, questioning my presence there and throwing parties that I'm supposed to be at, but don't invite me."

"That party had nothing to do with you."

"Oh, yeah? Mrs. Adler sure told me otherwise. That party had everything to do with me and you know it. How do you think that makes me look, being the face of the business, putting all of this work on my shoulders and I'm not even invited, let alone had a clue, about a launch party, where we named the business." Danny stared at me and his eyes were stuck between crazy and cool. He knew I was right, even I knew I was right, it just takes a real man to admit it.

He sighed. Looking down at the floor and shaking his head, Danny brought his hand up to this mouth, rubbing his chin. I didn't know wither to be frightened or to speak, so I just stared at him, waiting for him to break the silence.

"Jessa?" Startled, I looked up to see Kennedy walking down the stairs and my annoyance grew. I already had to deal with the clubs drama, I didn't need to deal with her drama too. Especially, not infront of Danny.
