Tears flood my eyes as I chased behind Danny. He was so furious, I've never seen him so upset since the time I met him. "Danny, I'm sorry!" I tried to grab his arm, keeping a tight grip, but he snatched away from me with such a force that caused his shirt sleeve to rip.
"I trusted you, I taught you so much, spent time with you! This is how you repay me?!"
The tears that fell down my eyes weren't tears of sorrow or remorse, they weren't even out of fear. Danny had betrayed me in the worst way and I was angry with him. A single tear that streamed down my face was composed of hate, anguish and revenge.
"How dare you speak to me about trust when you were the greatest traitor there was." He swung around to face me, the gesture taking me aback a little. My teeth stayed clenched. "I will never forgive you and I will never forget this!"
I turned my back towards him, stomping away, but his anger was all too much. Danny stared at me and a surge of energy rushed through him as he began screaming and lunging toward me. I gasped when I heard his heavy footsteps.
I woke, hyperventilating and sweating right before Danny had reached me. The anger that I had in my dream, somehow managed to carry on through me even in reality. What was I so mad about?
The heat from the confrontation made my blood boil and my hands began to tremble. I grabbed my face as an exasperated sigh eluded my lips and tried to regain contentment.
"Get a grip, Jessa." I muttered to myself as I pulled back the covers and swung my legs, getting out of bed.
In the shower, pieces of my dream stuck with me and it was as if I could see them playing out in the drops of water that fell: my tears, my anger, Danny's shirt ripping, his anger and right as he was lunging at me, it all washed down the drain.
I pulled my hair back into a ponytail and did my makeup for once. I was going for a professional look, so I wore slacks and a satin maroon, v-cut shirt that tied in the back and flats.
Recently, I've learned that the more time I spend at the Fun House and the people that buzz like bees inside it, the more I learn about their pasts, wither they want me to or not.
Adrenaline pumped through my veins as I got out of the car and headed toward the building. Dusting my hands off on my black slacks, trying to gain composure. Fiona wasn't going to ruin my plan, she wasn't going to stop me this time.
I walked in the building and as soon as I came through the door, familiar faces greeted me. "Long time, no see." It was Honey standing behind the counter of the bar, serving a drink to a guy in a red baseball cap and a gray shirt, when he turned to me, I saw that it was Gavin. At the sight of me he smiled, turning all the way around in the chair.
"Hey! It's Jessa Donovan. It's been a while, girl, where have you been?" I smiled remembering my first time at the club and how we all partied, how Mr. Clyde confronted me and sent me a text, how Danny hacked my phone and the drinks I shared with the devil.
I smiled, warmly. "I always seem to be busy these days."
"Come have a drink." Gavin nodded, agreeing with Honey and raised his glass in the air.
"Yeah, she's great at making drinks. Come sit down, take a load off."
I threw my purse on my elbow. "A working girl's dream, right?" I smiled, making my way over to the bar. "Vodka, please."
I put my purse on the counter, sliding onto the seat next to Gavin. As we drank, I lied to them about what I had actually been up to. Saying I was in school and babysitting my sister. They told me how Danny asked them to go to Spain for a business, trip the night after the party. I envied their stories about how they met amazing people, explored the language and on their downtime, partied.
