"Jessa!" Blinking, I slowly looked back at Jace. Looking back across the room, I squinted.

"Sorry, I-I just thought I saw someone familiar. That's all." Sure enough, I did, right across the food court was Danny and Kendra. Although, she was hiding from them, so how could they be talking to each other in clear daylight?

"Jessa, you sure you're okay? You can go if you need to." I could hear everything Jace was saying and I wanted to response to him, part of my mind was trying to talk to him, but my body stayed frozen, my mouth was glued tight. "Hey, that's Kendra and Danny."

"Wait, what?" My head turned, looking up at Jace, who's eyes were locked in the same place mine were, seconds ago. "You know them?"

He nodded, directing his attention to me. "Yeah, of course. We went to school with them, they were the hottest couple. Plus, Danny was friends with my ex-girlfriend. It's glad to see they're still together."

Blinking, my head tilted as I tried to process the information of this conversation. "I'm sorry, what? Who was your....." Just then my phone interrupted my thought, redirecting my attention. "I'm sorry, I have to take this."

"Oh, go ahead." Stepping out of the line, I looked at the caller ID on my phone, only to see a random number. I almost didn't answer, but remembering what my job was, I figured it was work related.

"Hello?" It was clear that I was being cautious.

"Jessa! I'm so glad to hear your voice!" Pulling my phone away from my ear, I looked at the number.

"Phillip? How'd you get my number?" Glancing at Kendra, I remembered what she said about Danny knowing everything that comes to my phone, so of course phillip had my number. "You know what, don't even answer that. Why are you calling me?"

There was a hesitation. ".......Jessa, I'm really sorry about Fiona. I know you haven't, exactly, felt the love around the house lately and well........"

"Phillip, what is it? I'm......." My eyes shifted toward Danny and then I quickly shook my head. "I'm kind of busy here." Pushing my hair back with my free hand, I leaned in closer to the phone."

"I just was wondering if there was somewhere we could go and talk, I actually want to explain a lot of stuff to you. I could even help you with the business." A heavy sigh escaped my body.

"Look, Phillip, I already finished all my files, I'm doing just fine. Plus, I don't need an explanation, I'm smarter than all of you think. I'll see you on business days, alright, bye."

"No, Jessa! Wa......" I hung up before he could plea his case and turning back around, I went back to Jace.

"Sorry, it was my job. I had to take it." Jace smiled at me warmy.

"Don't worry about it, I know how that can be." We stepped up to the counter and placed our order.

As Jace waited on our food, I headed over to a table. Alone, I couldn't stop staring at Danny and Kendra. In was amazed that they hadn't looked my way, but then again, they were too wrapped up in their conversation to notice me.

My head shook. "I just don't get it."

"Get what?" Jace sat down with the tray of food and immediately, my hand reached for a fry. Jace's eyes glanced over at the two. "What? Danny and Kendra? What's not to get?"

I looked down at the table and Jace reached for the ketchup, putting some on his burger and fries. "It's just.........." My eyes looked up at him, but he was too focused on his food. "N-nothing, never mind."

"Ouu, you stutter too? I think I'll have to marry you." Laughing I reached for my burger.

"Shut up! Just eat your burger." Taking a bite, I watched a smile spread across Jace's face.
