"Honey, you okay?" I chased after her, only to see her rush up the stairs. Gavin glanced at the door and then towards me and Fiona twirled around, just in time to see the door closing. "What's wrong with her?"
"I don't know, Gavin, we were just going for a walk and then she took off running."
"That doesn't sound like her." He rose to his feet, rushing upstairs to Honey's aid, leaving me and Fiona to the bar.
Fiona's eyes scanned me and her face twisted. "How pathetic." The words mumbled under her breathe as she took her belongings and headed out the door. I waited until I heard the door close and then I followed behind her.
Glancing past the door, I watched as she headed off onto the path Honey and I had just come from. "What could she possibly be doing?"
"Who?" Startled, I spun around to see Danny who was oddly sweating.
"Danny......um, nobody. I was just thinking about my sister and what she could possibly be up to at this time." Danny's eyes lowered to the ground and I could tell he felt guilty.
"How is your sister? Have you talked to her?" I turned my head looking back at the path, just in time to see Fiona making her way back.
"No, and I'm sure she's doing just fine." I leave before Danny can ask another question, but more importantly before Fiona can see that I was spying on her.
"Jessa, wait." Danny calls after me and I stop in my tracks. What is it about this boy that he has that big of an affect on me.
As I spun around, he grabbed hold of my hand, letting his fingers interlock with mine. My eyes stayed focused on his face as Danny stayed focused on our hands. "I didn't mean any harm, Jess." My breath became shattered and rigid as I struggled to hold on to the little bit of focus I had left.
"I-I know you didn't, Danny." I couldn't move. Frozen at the hands of the enemy, I was fixated on his hand placed against mine. The mere touch of our flesh against each other made me weak and I was losing site of my inner warrior.
"Then where are you going?" Just as I was about to say no where, Honey came prancing down the steps and through the door, stopping once she saw me and Danny. As Danny looked up at her, I took the opportunity to take my hand away, hiding it behind my back.
"Oh— sorry, I was just leaving.." she spun back around.
"No. Honey, you can stay."
"Jess....." I interrupted Danny.
"I was just leaving." I glanced at his face once last time then proceeded to collect my things and head out to my car. When I reach the parking lot, I hear my name being called.
"Jess! Jess, wait."
"Danny, I really have to go."
"Jess, please." He came running up to me, stopping me in my tracks. "I just want to make sure you're okay." I stood there for a second, then glanced back at the fun house, where Fiona was standing in the doorway, glaring down at us.
"I'm fine, Danny. I just really need to go." I didn't allow him to stop me, or sweet talk me. I left little room of opportunity for him to have any opportunity for me to stay. As I got in my car, I sped off into the distance.
----------------------------------------------"Jessa, slow down. What's gotten you so worked up?" I couldn't figure it out myself. I didn't know why I was angry, or why my anger reflected in my actions, causing me to speed.
"Jace, I can't do this anymore! I can't live a lie, be somebody I'm not!" The tears were streaming down my face.
"Jessa, what are you talking about? What do you mean Jess, you're you."
"No! No I'm not Jace! This was supposed to be for fun, this was supposed to be a new life for me, Ava, Kennedy— all of us! It's all a mess now! It's all —"
"Jess? Jess......Hello...... Jessa, can you hear me? Are you there? Jess, are you there.........."
