I wiped the tear that fell from my eye with my knuckle. Daniel mumbled something to himself, which I noticed, he does quite often. I stared at him and eventually, he became uncomfortable.
"What?"
"Do you always do that?" He stepped closer to me, confused.
"Do I always do what?"
"Mumble to yourself like that. Why don't you ever just say things out loud?" Danny hesitates for a moment and just stares into my eyes. I could see the wheels turning in his head.
"I think you better go home." He leaves me standing there, but I shake my head.
"No." He ignores me and keeps walking. "No! No, Danny, I'm not going home!"
I can sense the pain that swallows him. Turning to me, Daniel steps close to me, so that if he wanted to kiss me, he could. "Why not?" He spoke with such authority and confidence. I tried not to cower next to him.
"I've got a past and enough drama living in my house, that I sleep in fear. Why on earth, would I go back home to that? There's got to be some place else I can go." My eyes pleaded with him. I didn't want Daniel to leave me here and I sure couldn't go back to face Ava.
Daniel's face turned toward the bright sky, and he let out a sigh. He then looked deep into my eyes, trying to see if my words were true, but there was no lie behind how I felt. "There is one place, but I don't know of you'd be able to handle what you see, I don't even know if you're ready at all."
Placing my hands on his arms, I tightened my grip and brought him down, so we were at the same level. My eyes burned through his and it was like fire fighting fire, and sparks were flying. "Take me."
Daniel moved away from me and over to his car. A wave of defeat filled my veins and I began to feel hopeless. Here I was, standing at some old abandoned bank and Daniel was leaving. Lowering my head, I tried to hold back the pain.
"Get in." Looking up, Daniel was standing at the passenger side of the car and he was holding open the door. Just in that swift moment, a joy shot through my body and I began to anticipate what was in store.
We drove in silence and I could feel the tension in the car getting stronger and stronger. I looked towards Daniel, wondering if he could feel it too? I couldn't help, but notice his concentration in his eye, but seeing a small fleck of sparkle, I knew he was a bit distracted.
I watched the scenery as we drove, I couldn't help, but notice every tree, flower, building, car and house that we drove past. It was like I was running away from all my problems and every bad thing that lived inside of me.
The thought made me let out a deep breath. "Everything okay?" Daniel glanced at me and then refocused his attention back on the road.
"What? Yeah, I'm fine. I was just thinking about how everything would be if I never had any of these problems. For once, I just want to be able to let go and have fun, and when it's over for everything to be fine." Daniel rubs his chin with one hand.
"Well, you can." He pulls up to a tall building, that looks something like a business with a home at the top. Egarly, Daniel gets out of the car and heads over to the door, he doesn't ho in, he just stares at it.
I get out if the car and follow behind Daniel, who looks in awe at this buoding that looks nothing, but ordinary to me. When I get close to him, he silent, as if he was in a mental debate.
"What is this place?" He looks at me and it feels as if so many thoughts are running through his head that he was struggling to mail gain his cool.
