I enjoyed my one on one time with Danny. The more time that I spent with him, the more everything just seemed to melt away around me. I enjoyed working for him, bonding with him. Just being around him made me forget about what I felt earlier.
"So, let me get this straight, every person you recruit has to be accepted by Mrs. Adler?"
"Yeah. She's really what made all of this possible, she's the mother goose of us all and I must admit, she speaks highly of you. You're really something to her." I stared down at the floor, processing everything.
I liked Mrs. Adler, she was a very kind and generous woman, I felt honored that she was very fond of me. I wanted to make her proud. It was then that I realized, this business isn't only important to the family, but it was important to me too.
"Jessa, you have those keys?" I pulled them out of my purse. "Great, let's start with..."
"Danny." Fiona opened the door, not even saying excuse me. I thought the gesture was quite rude. "Mrs. Adler wants you and Jessa to go check on Mr. Adler. She thinks it would be good for him to met Jessa." Danny looks around and nods.
"Oh, okay then. Jessa I'll tell you about them later, we need to go." I follow Danny down the stairs and out of the building. We head over to his car, and he holds the door open for me.
"Oh, wait. I left my purse and keys upstairs. I'll just be a second." I jog back into the building and head over to the door. Before I open the door I hear whispers coming toward me and hide behind the wall.
"I don't remember getting a call from Mrs. Adler." Phillip looked at Fiona with his arms crossed over his chest.
Fiona looked at Phillip like he was stupid. "That's because there wasn't, I couldn't stand to see her face any longer." I knew she was talking about me, there wasn't a doubt about it, I just couldn't believe it.
"You know you're wrong for that and what you did at the banquent was foul, Fiona." My mouth dropped, so I wasn't crazy.
"Whatever, there's no way I'm going to let Jessa destroy what we build." Phillip stared her down.
"We? Are you sure you're talking about the club, or does this have to do with the fact that you've been in love with Danny since highschool. You were out of line for what you did to Kendra, do you really have to treat Jessa like that?" Fiona's face twisted, her anger was as pure as day.
"Oh, shut up! Kendra had what was coming to her. She wasn't right for Danny and you know it." Phillips head raised toward the sky and his hands covered his face.
"Fiona, get it through your thick skull. Danny loves you like a sister. Honestly, if he hasn't liked you the way he does Jessa, or the way he did Kendra, he'll never love you that way."
"Says my brother! I wouldn't talk so much if I were you. Hmm, tell me, does Darla still know about the bet?" Phillips head shook and he looked at Fiona with such rage.
"You're out of line, Fiona and for dragging Lucas into this."
"Lucas just loves me and is willing to do anything for me." She shrugged her shoulders.
"You're only treating him, the exact same way you felt. Danny didn't know you loved him, he didn't hurt you on purpose and when Lucas finds out, you should at least know how he'll feel."
"Whatever. Let's just go." I watched as they left the club, and when they were gone, I slowly emerged from my hiding place. So much was just fed into my brain, that my mind was completely blown.
"Oh, hey Jess. I was just about to come look for you, you left your purse." Darla handed my bag and keys to me and I took them from her. "Uh, you okay?" I wondered what Fiona meant by Darla and this bet, but I didn't want to ask her.
