Comatose: of or in a state of deep unconsciousness for a prolonged or indefinite period, especially as a result of severe injury or illness.

"Jessa......Jessa! Are you okay?" Opening my eyes a chill ran down my spine.

"How could I......how could I be so blind? He left me in the dark and I mistaken it for a sense of mystery and really he was just...."

"Broken." I looked at Kendra, turning towards her. I stared into her eyes and crossed my arms over my chest.

"Why did you bring me here?" Kendra pressed her weight down into her heel and looked over at the beautiful, wood dining table.

"I told you... I needed to tell you something."

"You could've talked to me anywhere. We could've talked over the payphone, we could've met up at some park or something, anywhere, but...... " I covered my mouth with my hand as my voice broke. Tears began to well in my eyes as I couldn't bare looking at the set up of the home much longer, so I closed them.

"Jessa." Kendra touched my shoulder with her hand and I could feel the sympathy she was giving me. "We all come from broken homes, it's just what you choose to learn from them that matters."

My head shook in dismay. "How could he hide this?" I watched as Kendra's facial expression turned from sympathetic to sullen.

"There's something I need to talk to you about..." I followed Kendra up the stairs of the house and down the hall to a room. The walls of the room were blue with a white carpet.

"This.....this is...."

"Yeah. It's his room." Kendra walked over to the mattress that lay on the floor. There wasn't a bed frame, or a back board, it just layed there, on the floor, in the middle of the room as if it was thrown about. Kendra stared at it.

"The house is divided. The company is close to becoming a mess and they're setting you up for the blame."

"Me? They just met me, how could they set me up for something I'm new to. It just doesn't seem right."

"Which is exactly why they're doing it." Kendra's voice was dry as she walked over, running her finger over the dresser that sat against the wall, then moving over to the window.

"You're crazy! This is crazy. You're just mad because they threw you out of the company, mad because you don't have Danny anymore!"

"Open your eyes, Jessa! They're playing you. You really think that they care about you, that they have your back?" She laughed a cold, spine chilling laugh. "It's because they told you they did, right? Believe me, the moment things get bad they're setting you up. I was there at the beginning, when they started the company, I grew up with all of them, I know who they can be, you know only what they tell you and you don't know what really went down with my situation. As for Danny, don't sweat yourself, he's not much to want."

Kendra's anger rose and it showed in her face. She headed out of the room, taking one last glance at the mattress on the floor. My eyes focused on the mattress as well and all I could do was shake my head. Who would've thought.

I head out the room only to find Kendra in the hallway, sitting on the floor. "Kendra.......Kendra I'm sorry, I.......... I didn't mean what I said, it's just...."

"We never mean what we say, but that doesn't stop us from saying what we mean." I look down at her as her head lifts up toward me. She uncrosses her legs and pulls them up to her chest. "Have a seat Jessa."

Quietly, I sit next to her on the floor of the hallway and as I do, my eyes lift up, looking toward the ceiling. "I sure do feel small in this big house. It's actually kinda nice."
