We had a new student. It was extremely uncommon to get someone new, especially in this little ole' four hundred person high school. News had spread like a wildfire, yet I hadn't encountered the new kid yet. After two grueling years at this place, I recognized everyone. It was my goal to conquer the school and so far I'd succeeded. I was the co-captain of the cheerleading team, the Treasurer of Student Council, and one of the most popular, but not most liked, girls. I may not have been very liked, but I was well-known, and my only goal was to be remembered.
My fingertips tapped against the wooden desk as I stared at the bare wall in front of my face. A figure passed in front of me and I looked up to catch sight of a lightly sun-burnt face.
"Hey, new kid right?" I blurted out.
He didn't respond and instead walked straight past me to a seat in the back of the class. I scowled and turned to glare at him but he never glanced up. I groaned and pushed myself out of my chair. My gold sneakers slapped against the tile floor as I headed towards the back. I ran a quick hand through my mocha hair to make sure I was somewhat presentable before I stopped in front of the kid's desk. He looked up at me and a sense of familiarity hit me straight in the face.
"What do you want?" He said, an eyebrow raised.
"What's your name?" I said.
"You don't remember?" He snorted, "figures."
"Wait. What?"
"Just don't talk to me."
"Fine, no need to be a hormonal bitch."
"I'll leave that to you," He laughed.
I scowled, flipped him off, then walked away. The sound of his obnoxious deep laugh echoed in my ears as I grumpily sat back down.
