You and Hayden had only been going out for a few weeks, but both had fallen hard. Almost every waking moment was spent with each other. At school, at the Sinema, the library after class, and over some weekends you would spend the night at her house. Her sister was always watching of course.
But something grew in the pit of Hayden's stomach one Friday night. The two of you went to a party together. Hayden thought that parties could be fun but you found them a bit boring. So the minute you walked in you regretted it, knowing the loud music would give you a headache.
"I'm going to grab a drink!" You yell over the noise.
She nods and smiles. "Can you grab me something too?"
Nodding you squeeze her hand before you leave to find the kitchen. Opening the coolers you search for something when a girl taps your shoulder. You turn and feel your face flush. She was that one pretty girl from your history class, she sat behind you but you still knew what she looked like. Short, curly blonde hair, pretty green eyes. But Hayden, Hayden was the sun to you compared to this girl.
"You're in my history class right? (Y/N)?" She sticks out her hand and you shake it. "I recognized the back of your head." She jokes. "I don't really see you at parties though."
"I'm not a big party person," you admit, "but my girlfriend had been dying to go for months so I thought I'd make an exception."
"Thats right, her name's Hayden right? I see you two in the hallways all the time. You guys are adorable."
A smile stretches across your face. "Thanks, speaking of Hayden I told her I'd grab a drink. But I'll probably see you later."
You grab two drinks and the girl waves goodbye. "Have fun."
Glancing around the living room for Hayden, you couldn't spot her. You press your way through the crowd, looking for her dark hair, but there was nothing. You manage to make your way to a window and spot her sitting under it, looking at the stars. You smile to yourself and make your way to the front door. You walk around the house, shivering in the cool wind and sit next to her. She takes her drink without looking at you.
"Hayden? Is everything alright?"
"Yeah- no- I don't know, it's probably nothing." She glances at you and takes a gulp of her drink.
"Hayden, this is me you're talking to. Whatever it is I'll understand."
She sighs. "Its just, I saw you in the kitchen with that girl and I don't know, I felt sick or something. For a split second I wanted to rip her throat out. God it sounds so stupid." She buries her head in her knees.
You try to hold back a laugh. "Hayden are you jealous?" She lets out a muffled groan. "Because I don't like her at all. We were talking about you infact. Hayden, I'm your girlfriend, not anyone else's."
She sneaks a glance at you and smiles. You lean over and give her a kiss on the cheek, but she quickly moves her head so you met her lips. Smiling into the kiss you pull her closer, completely forgetting about the party behind you.
