"dad" a small voice squeaked out from the dark. "yeah," Scott turned around his face being half illuminated by the lights in the hallway. "can you tell me a story" the little voice blurted out. "it's really late." Scott replied. "please." The tiny voice begged. "fine, just one." Scott surrendered and walked over his finger flicking on the small airplane lamp by the bedside. "which one do you want to hear?" Scott asked as he laid out three books on the blanket. "I want to hear one about an angel." The little voice requested. "there isn't one about an angel." Scott exhaled exhausted from the hectic day he endured. "make one up." The little voice suggested. Scott sighed and rubbed his eyes. "okay." He smiled.
"There was once this beautiful angel; she had shiny hair and big bright eyes. Her skin was smooth and she loved baking and singing. One day she fell from heaven and became a human. She was given a task that in order to get back into heaven she needed to help out one human being. The angel was getting desperate after weeks she still had not found a single human that needed her help. Until one day she happened to walk into a coffee shop. It was there this young boy laid his eyes on her for the first time. He could tell that she was lost and not from around the area. So the boy took it upon himself to walk over to the girl. He introduced himself and asked her if she needed help. The girl responded that she was looking for a human being that needed her help. The boy was confused as to why she would be requesting such an odd thing. The boy offered to help the girl find a person who needed her help, so the two of them set off on an odd adventure to find a human who needed help. They searched high and low but no luck. After about a month from being away from Heaven the angel decided to adapt to life as a human. She moved in with the boy from the coffee shop and started doing regular human things. Being around each other all the time the boy and the angel ended up falling in love with one another. One day the angel and the boy were sitting outside when the boy pulled out a small paper heart from his pocket. Inside the paper heart was a small ring that cost no more than twenty five cents. The boy told the angel that he loved her and wanted to marry her. So they got married, they spent many happy years together although some people thought they were silly for getting married at such a young age. What made them happier was when they both had a handsome son. A year after their son was born the angel got a letter in the mail. It was from Heaven saying she completed her task and was wanted back in heaven immediately. The angel didn't want to go because she had a home and a family. Heaven gave the angel seven days to get back to heaven. One night while the boy was sleeping he was awoken by a sudden light bursting into the window he turned over and seen the angel was gone. She left back to heaven. The boy was heartbroken and wanted to see her again. Every day he would carry her wedding ring in his front pocket in case he seen her again. He had hope but deep down the boy knew that she was gone forever and that the next time he would see her she probably wouldn't recognize him because he would be old. So the boy raised his son on his own. He still had hope that one day he would see her and he knows he will, it will just take time."
Scott felt the tiny grip around his finger loosen. He leaned over and kissed the warm forehead of his son and turned to flick off the light. "dad" the little voice uttered in his sleepiest voice. "yeah?" Scott asked. "why did heaven want the angel back?" The little boy asked. "because she belonged to heaven first." He replied. "but what about the boy and his son? Didn't she love them?" the little voice asked. Scott lifted the corner of his lips and gently bit his bottom lip. "she loved them more than anything in the entire universe." He replied. "but why did she leave?" he asked again. "she didn't have a choice." Scott replied. "she wanted to stay, her eyes were full of sorrow because she knew what she was leaving behind. She let the boy know that he was the best thing that ever happened in her life and to take good care of their son, then heaven took her." Scott's voice lowered. "okay" the little voice yawned. "good night Kian" Scott smiled at his son and flicked the light off. He was halfway to the door when he turned around to look back at the little body drifting off to sleep. "what made you want to hear a story about an angel?" Scott asked out of curiosity. Kian turned around to face Scott, "because I seen one." He yawned "she said to ask dad to tell me a story about her" his voice drifted off. Scott smiled and walked out closing the door behind him. "took you long enough." Stiles smiled as he took another slow sip of his drink. "do you believe that dead people can come visit the living?" Scott asked as he sat down. "like haunting?" Stiles asked. "no, like to show that they aren't really gone." Scott asked. Stiles glanced at him with a "are you serious look". "after all we been through and you being a werewolf do you really want to cancel out visits from the dead?" Stiles asked sarcastically. Scott smiled at Stiles and stood up to go to the kitchen. He walked over to the kitchen sink and looked out the window into the dark. He slowly lifted his hand and patted the pocket on his chest feeling the small circle object just underneath it. Scott smiled and looked up at a picture of you, him and baby Kian in the hospital the day he was first born. He kissed the tips of his fingers and placed them gently on the glass above your face. "I miss you too." He mumbled quietly and walked out of the kitchen turning off the light. Just the reflection of the moon lighting up the picture on the wall.
