Part 3 The Council

In the courtyard "Redemption" sat saddled beside Abaccus, they were waiting there for there Rider's.

Rushing from her room Akira, bumped into a hard chest. When she looked up she saw Seth smirking down at her. "In a hurry" he asked her.

"That obvious" she asked? "Let's put it this way, you have been like a "draglin" scared it might be trampled at any moment." "That bad really?" he just smiled lovingly at her.

"Can you blame me, I don't know these people Seth."

"Listen the first time, you went up before the old council, you didn't know them either," he spoke softly. "I just wanted to walk you out if that's okay with you." Seth, reached out for a loose strand, of her long black raven hair. He tucked it behind her ear gently. They made it to the court yard in no time. Almost everyone was retired to there rooms by now.

So it was very empty except for the two beautiful Dragon's. Gleaming in the moon light one yellow dragon a very large one at that. Was sitting with saddle ready he was handsome.

But the other Dragon was by far the most beautiful Dragon she had ever seen my Dragon she thought. But then he was the Dragon of Legend, his white scales seem to glow far more brightly than any normal dragon should.

In her mind she heard "Oh I see you are finally realizing how Magnificent, Special not to mention Extraordinary I am." "Ree that's enough" Akira thought to him. "But I must say you are all that and more."

Ree, shifted as if he were modeling, for a portrait of him self. Akira couldn't help but laugh at her Dragon. The whole time Seth was watching her, with amusement written all over his face. "I see you are feeling better already," Seth said as he wrapped his arm's, around her for a hug. As he did he whispered "is he modeling."

"Yes I have the weird attention seeking Dragon." "Hey I heard that" Ree shoot into her head. "Well it's true" she shot back . "Um I hate to break up your little love fest. But Linken is coming around the side" he thought to her.

"Akira, looked up at Seth well I got to go." Just then Seth laid eyes on Linken "yeah I guess you do." Seth replied. "Don't worry they will love you and if not just have Redemption eat them."

"Bye Seth" she said walking away laughing at his comment Ree said " I knew there was a reason, why I've always liked that boy."

She jumped into the saddle and the two dragons and riders were off. Ree said "I can make this trip in my sleep," Akira agreed after a while of flying. "The mountains not much further now,"she thought." Hang on" Ree thought. " Down they went into a dark hole in the mountain free falling, into a straight dive till they came to a little plat form. Not much bigger than for two dragons to land on, Ree landed gracefully.

Next came Linken and his dragon, there landing was pretty impressive. Akira waited for him too lead the way. First they went up to a wall where he felt around for a button, down the dark hall then thorough the room with some greenery and next came the council chamber.

Redemption was walking right behind me as we entered the chamber. Everything went quiet when they saw me and Redemption. Alll eyes were on us as Linken sat in Brandon's old chair at the end. Akira, started to feel a bit nervous but she was not going to let them intimidate her.

The man in the middle seat the very one Silas, use to occupy looked at her and asked shall we get started?" All heads turned to him,everyone seemed to come out of some trance, except for Linken. He had a slight grin on his face.

A young man of no more than 23 summers sat next to Linken. He introduced himself to to us his name was Landon. He was tall and lean with short curly black hair, and dark eyes he had a handsome face.

Next was the one in Silas old chair he had brown hair and brown eyes he to was handsome he looked to be about 25 summers. He took his time looking over me as if scanning me for each and every flaw finally he said "my name is Claus."

The next chair held a tall tanned skinned man with flaming red hair he looked to be about 21summers. He said "my name is Troy" he reminded me so much of Nathaniel.

The next was not nearly as tall as the others but what he lacked in height he made up for it in muscle. He was handsome in a way he had dark brown hair with brown eyes and a slight crock to his nose he looked to be about 22 summers, he said 'my name Garrett."

Akira stood as straight as a board with Ree standing next to her proud and bold.

Claus spoke up "I suppose you are wondering why you are here?"

"It would be wise, if he stopped staring at you like that" Ree spoke in my head. "Calm down boy" she thought too her dragon . "They are just trying to weigh and measure me" Ree laughed, "you don't weigh that much," he chuckled in my head.
The one called Claus spoke up, "you sure have made a name for yourselves." "Let's see reckless, head strong, always doing things your own way does not listen to orders."

That was as far, as he got suddenly Ree released a loud wall shaking roar, that shook the very mountain it's self. He was showing his teeth and thrusting his tail in very aggressive manner.

Once it was quit Ree thought in a threatening voice for all to hear." No one and I mean no one, talks to my Rider like that." All eyes were opened wide except for Linken. No one spoke I was mad but Ree was madder.

"Do you speak?" Claus asked me. Or does your dragon do all your speaking for you?" "Let's go" Ree thought I have had enough. "No Ree please stay for me I need to say something or they will try to run all over us."

"I would settle for stomping them can I?" he sent to me. "Ree let me speak." I stepped forward, " yes I speak" I replied. And there are a few things I need to say, to you." "Redemption and I are not just Rider and Dragon."We share a bond very few people could understand. We are a team we love and trust each other and would go to end of the land's, if necessary for the other."

"And in taking care of the lands, there are no guidebook's we can use. We follow or lead with or hearts we trust and love each other. Enough to die for the other if necessary. And if that is not good enough for you."

"We will leave the academy and the council, but remember this. We will be fighting for what is right whether you approve or not. See our heart can not tolerate to seeing people, dragons or the land's being hurt. I guess it makes me all the things you said and probably more."

"You tell them kiddo, my rider is growing up," Ree thought.

I didn't respond I was watching the council reactions. Landon was the first to recover.

"Well it seems you and your dragon are very loyal" he said.

"How could we not be we grew up together. We have relied on one another, to just make it from one day, to the next. What I'm trying to say, is we are one in our hearts." I could feel Ree's love and satisfaction flowing through me.

"And as one we can do anything," my dragon thought.

Garrett spoke up,"would you really go so far?" "I mean don't you have friends and a certain someone."

"Yes, they know me they take me as I am, and know the the risks as well I do." "Seth me knows better than any one." "Our answer would still be yes."

I watched the council members faces Troy, seemed at ease. Actually as I looked, I noticed they all had calm faces, even Claus.

"We have heard enough you and your dragon may leave now." Claus said. Linken told me,"to go ahead he would follow later." Ree and l turned as one walking proudly with our heads lifted out of the chamber. On the ride home Ree and I tried to make sense of what that was all about. "Ree do you have any idea why I told them we were one?" "I'm not sure, I think it's the bond but I enjoyed hearing you say it." We traveled the rest of the way mostly in quiet letting our thought's wonder.....................
