Dragon of Legend; Light Bk 5

Part 11 Sadness

In past week the atmosphere surrounding the academy was gloomy, the moral was at an all time low. Redemption had not left the rooftop of the academy since the fateful day Akria, was taken. Though everyone else, was devastated by her absence.

I, was the only one, who felt the pain of her absence, on the same level as Redemption. We are a kindred spirit, when it comes to how much we love her, and how much we would sacrifice; even how far we would go, in our endeavor to get Akria back. Gina and Drake were in pain to. At least they had each other to turn to. I, have been with Ree, as much as possible every chance. I, could find to get away from my duties. We have found a semblance of comfort in each other's company.

Linken, had chosen to move the rooftop training sessions, to a large room within the academy. He though this might allow,Redemption, the peace and quiet he so desperately needed.

Nothing could dissuade, the Creamy dragon, from leaving his side. The only times he ventured, of the roof was to eat. That had soon ceased, to be a necessity, as food was brought him. By one of us allowed access to the roof.

Even though other's, sat with him to ensure his wellbeing. I, spent as much of my free time with Ree, as I could spare, talking to him or just sitting. He didn't do a whole lot of talking anymore. I, understood this completely; it's not like I am exactly happy, in fact I'm totally miserable. It's hard to watch Redemption when he is in pain. Knowing  that Akria, is going through same thing. When he is hurting he will say her name. It break's my heart, to see him, this desolate and sick." I love him as well as her." All I, can do in the meantime, is have faith, that they will make it, through this alive.

Gina, Drake, Linken and I, rotate sitting with him, so he is never alone. Some of the other student's have volunteered to sit with him. I was adamant, when they first broached the subject-that no one else, was to be around him. In his weakened state. I, know, that Redemption, is a proud Dragon; who would not want other's seeing him, in the condition, he was in right now.

Redemption, deserved his privacy. I, thought about all the times those two had dealt with worse odds than these. Trying to console myself. But in reality, I knew this time, thing's were different. Ree, has no way of getting to the time, she is in. 500 yr's seem's like eternity. The only comfort I have found, "as long as Ree, is alive, so was Akria."

The other Dragon, was a mystery. to not only myself but everyone else. It is devoted to him completly; helping support him, when he needed to move. Or just being there, giving silent comfort when he was in pain.

Linken, had called us four into his office for a meeting. I listened as he stared to speak. "I'm sure your aware, almost all the cadet's have now been picked by a dragon. We have a surplus of riderless dragons, filling up the back of the ground's to its capacity. With more arriving daily. I have received word from the other academy's. They are reporting the same occurrence, almost every cadet has been chosen by a dragon. All extra dragon's, appear to be making there way here. As you know each academy is working overtime to make armor for all the new dragon's.

Gina spoke up, "what does this mean sir?"

We believe the dragon's are sensing. what Akria, and Redemption, were. Thus causing egg's to hatch, and existing dragon's to go, where they feel they are needed. Which happens to be here. Why they feel the need to come here, I'm not quite sure. Never the less, we will take them in and provide them with food and armor.  The council thinks the future, is waiting for the end. Of the Rider of Legend and the Legend himself. We think they will strike, soon after if they are successful.

This caught my attention, are they just writing them off as dead, how could they? Why would they? I asked myself. After everything, they have done and scarified for the wellbeing of us, and the land's. I was reaching my breaking point, I wasn't exactly at my best right now, with everything going on. They had just as much decided, they were going to die.
