It was a warm night with a slight breeze blowing an owl hooted in the distance. I, woke up, covered in sweat and shivering uncontrollably. Looking around in a daze my eye's landed on Draven, sleeping peacefully.
I, realized everything that happened today was not a dream.
I, felt so weak that I, could barely get to my feet. Slowly I, made my way, to where the Dragon's were beaded down. Staggering over to them, I, put my hand on Black's, head. Black, stared at me with intelligence, in his eye's, as if he wanted to communicate with me. Looking him in the eyes I, asked, "May I lay with you?
The dragon nodded while adjusting his position to make room for me to rest. He could tell she weak, he saw how unsteady she was on her feet. He also knew she was feverish by the sheen of sweat coating her face and plastering her hair down. He lowered his head to steady her, while helping her to the ground.
Once I, was settled the dragon put his head In my lap, the same way Ree, does. While tucking one of his huge wing's around me. He knew I, needed the warmth. In thanks I, started to stroke his head while humming to him gently.
The other dragon's were intrigued by the kindness she showed there brother dragon. Very rarely were they shown any type of kindness except by Draven. They felt drawn to the small girl for reason's they didn't understand. They got up from the spot's they were laying in and walked up to them. She reached out and gently stroked each dragon's head. They made a purring sound deep in there throat's. They could see she was unwell each one of them felt a need to protect her.
Smiling at them I, told the dragon's, "Good Night."
They watched her as she curled up with there brother, she was shivering so hard they could hear her teeth chattering. They watched her until her eye's closed, and sleep over took her. Each one of the dragon's positioned themselves to form a protective circle around her and Black.
My, dream's were filled with worry for Redemption and Seth. I, woke up off and on In pain, during a restless period I, thought about how much I, missed my dragon. My heart suddenly felt like someone was squeezing it, I, moaned out in pain. The dragon's circling me, moved closer as if trying help ease my pain. Once the pain died down, I, snuggled up closer to him, and drifted back off into a restless sleep.
At first light Draven stirred, slowly waking up he had slept like a log. He went to stretch and cringed at how sore his muscles were. Yawning, he thought, for her to be so small she sure could fight. He just laid there, dreading to move a muscle. He had never felt this sore, even when he trained with Jared.
That was unimaginable since he weighed almost 280 pound's and stood at 6 ft 8 in. Jared's body was made up of pure muscle. Draven, had seen people's teeth rattle from blocking just one of his blow's with a sword.
It baffled him how a mere girl who weighed at the most 110 lbs soaking wet. Had caused him to feel as if he had jumped from the roof of the Academy.
He wondered again if he was doing the right thing by bring her here. He just couldn't shake the feeling that this was wrong.
She did have a good point. Why didn't Cassandra want her dragon to come with her?
She had stressed to everyone how important it was to get her and make sure Redemption, didn't come with her. She made him sacrifice everyone who went with him. She said they were not nearly as important as the girl. Some of those men were his friend's, they had grown up together.
Thinking about this depressed him, he sighed. Thinking about the fact that there was nothing he could do about that now. He had accomplished what he was sent to do, all he could do now was move foreword.
