I see a young girl with brown hair and brown eyes laying on a table. She has my face.
It's me, when I was younger.
A woman with blonde hair says "okay, we're going to bring it in now."
A large dog suddenly walks into the room. It approaches younger me, then looks up at the woman.
She nods and says "do it."
Fear fills the younger girl's eyes as the large dog bites into her shoulder, then walks to sit next to the woman. It then suddenly changes into a person. It shifts into a human.
"Don't be afraid, Alyssa. This is just one of our Trials. First of many. You and your brother, you're very valuable to us."
"Do... whatever you want... to me. Just please... don't hurt... him."
"Don't talk, that'll just make it hurt more."
My younger self looks straight up at the ceiling. A moment later, her eyes change color.
They turn blue.
She sits up, transformed. Her eyes are blue, and her fingernails are replaced with claws. There is a small amount of hair on the sides of her face. Her ears are pointed. She isn't human.
"So the transformation was a success."
"What am I, again?"
"A werecoyote. That's what you'll go by now. Your name will be Coyote."
A bunch of images suddenly flash through my mind. All of them involve me being that half-animal thing that the woman described as a werecoyote.
Coyote, a voice rings through my head. WICKED is good.
I hear a small, male voice say "what'd they do to you, Lyss?"
More images flash.
"They cured me." It was my voice this time. The last thing I see is my eyes. They're shining light blue. And my voice says only one thing. "WICKED is good, believe it or not."
My eyes suddenly fly open, and I wake up with a small jump, panting in my hammock. I sit up and go to put my head in my hands, but I stop when I see my fingers.
I don't have fingernails. I have claws.
My eyes widen in fear, and I reach for the mirror and my flashlight. I turn the small light on and shine it on the mirror. And what I see terrifies me.
I see myself as a werecoyote.
