I began my new life in a dark, moving room. An elevator of sorts. It's rapidly moving up, but I don't see anywhere for it to stop. I shakily stand up and call out "can anybody hear me?! Is anyone there?!"
All of my memories are slowly slipping away. I can't remember anything; who I am, if I have a family, what my life is like. I manage to hold onto one thing though, one word: coyote. That must be my name I guess. A strange name, but hey, who am I to judge?
The elevator continues moving upwards, and I fall to the ground. I call out "please! Somebody help me!"
No response.
I back into the corner of the elevator, pressing myself against the cool metal of the walls. Panic floods through me, and I'm suddenly unsure of whether I want the elevator to stop or not. I don't know where it's taking me, where I'm going. I look up through the roof of the elevator and see a blinking red light. I must be reaching the top. Oh crap, I'm probably gonna die. It'll hit the roof, and I'll never get out, and I'll die.
Once the elevator starts getting closer to the dot, a ray of light suddenly peaks through. So, this isn't gonna kill me. Possibly. I'm not sure. God, please don't let me die.
The elevator comes to a complete, sudden stop, and the top is opened. I back even farther into the corner and try to hide behind a few boxes.
"Bloody shuck Alby, there's no greenie!"
My eyes widen. A voice. A person. Another human being.
"What do you mean there's no shucking greenie? Get in there and look!"
I hear someone jump down into the elevator. I cover my face with my hands, trying to hide myself from them.
"Here he is." The person has a British accent, and it's kinda cute.
He? I'm not a he.
I look up, making sure not to look at the person. I quietly say "not a he."
"Bloody hell! Alby get in here! It's a girl!"
"A girl?!"
I hear someone else jump into the elevator. I look up at them and quietly say "p-please don't hurt me..."
One of the two people, a guy with blond hair, says "we're not gonna hurt you."
The other guy, who's taller and has dark skin, says "holy shuck Newt, I thought you were trying to pull that joke again."
The blond guy, apparently Newt, says "don't look so frightened. We're not gonna hurt you." He extends his hand towards me and says "need a hand?"
I attempt to back further into the corner, but I'm as far into the corner as I can be.
He bends down to level with me and says "we're not gonna hurt you, okay? We're gonna get you out of here." He extends his hand again.
I slowly reach out my arm and grab his hand. He pulls me up and says "Alby, get the ropes."
The darker guy, apparently Alby, says "hey can someone throw down the ropes?"
A rope falls into the elevator, one end of it being held outside.
Newt says "c'mon greenie." He grabs the rope and puts his arm around my waist. We're suddenly pulled up, out of the elevator.
I look around and see that we're in a field. A large field with a large forest, and I see some gardens, and there's a poorly structured building off to the side. But there's one thing that really draws my attention: the walls. This place is encased in walls. "This place is a prison," I quietly say to myself. I see there's one opening in the walls.
Alby comes out of the elevator and says "can you remember your name?"
I say "C-Coyote..."
Newt says "your name is Coyote?"
I say "I-I don't know I c-can't remember!"
He says "do you remember the word coyote?"
I nod and say "it's the only thing. It seemed important to hold onto, it was the only thing I made sure to remember."
Alby says "then we'll call you Coyote, until another name crosses your mind."
Newt says "well Coyote, welcome to the Glade."
**A/N so I haven't written fanfiction in a while and I'm trying a new style of writing with this story. Bear with me. I got the idea to write this from a story I'm writing with my best friend. It'll probably be bad but there's a chance it might be good, so stick around and read for a while. I get kinda bored with updating certain amounts of chapters every day, so I'll post on here randomly. Again, bear with me here. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy the story. :)
