Recap: He smiled and kissed her head then slowly snuck out of the common room to look for Dumbledore.
He walked around what felt like ages when he heard the sound of footsteps behind him then hard, cold voice say, "Mr. Potter. What gives you the idea that you can wander the corridors after curfew?"
Harry but his lip and slowly turned around and saw one of the faces he hated seeing most. Snape. He saw Snape's eyes wander down to the sleeping little girl in his arms then grew almost twice in size.
He began to feel uncomfortable with how long and the way he had been staring at his little sister so he shifted her a little and cleared his throat.
Snape snapped out of his daze and returned to look at Harry with hatred and almost disgust. "You are to return to you dormitory immediately Mr. Potter and fifty points-"
"Please sir." Harry cut him off. "I need to speak with Professor Dumbledore immediately."
Snape raised an eyebrow. "At this hour? Why?"
Harry looked down at Ali then back at Snape and it finally clicked. "You don't know where to put her during classes."
Harry nodded his head a little. "Now are you going to show me where he is or not?"
Snape rolled his eyes but grabbed Harry firmly by the shoulder and led him down several corridors before stopping in front of a large bird stature.
"Sherbet lemon." He heard Snape mutter and the statue began to twist and rise up, revealing a stone staircase underneath that lead up to a large door.
Harry glanced up at Snape and held Alison tighter when he saw the Potions teacher once again, staring at the girl. He gave him one of those protective older brother looks then walked up the stairs and hesitated only a second before knocking on the door.
The door slowly swung open and Harry stepped through and looked around at the ginormous office. The walls were covered in moving pictures of old men that Harry assumed were previous headmasters.
He saw a large desk on top of some steps and he slowly walked up to it. He looked around in amazement but soon his arms began to shake as Ali's weight, though she weighted a little over half of what other children her age weighed, began to take its toll on him.
Harry looked around and found a cushioned bench on one of the walls and nodded to himself. He walked over to it and carefully laid Ali down, doing everything he could to be as quiet and gently as possible so he wouldn't wake her.
He heard someone clear their throat and he whirred around to see Professor Dumbledore sitting on theatre chair behind the large desk.
"Ah the young Potters. Would you care to tell me as to why you have brought yourself and your sister to me?" Dumbledore asked in soft and quiet tone.
Harry walked over to the desk. "Sir, I cannot thank you enough for letting Alison stay here with me at Hogwarts, but I do have some concerns."
The old man raised his eyebrow. "Concerns? Such as?"
Harry bit his bottom lip. "Where will Ali go? I don't want her to be in the dorm room or in the common room or anything herself."
Dumbledore stroked his bread as he thought before kidding to himself. "She can stay here with me. You can bring her here after breakfast, I can bring her down to lunch, and you can come pick her up when your classes are done."
Harry nodded and felt small hands grab his arm and he looked down to see Ali clinging to his arm. He picked her up and kissed her forehead. She smiled a little and laid her head on his shoulder feeling so much better in his arms.
"Thank you so much Professor. Are you sure it's not any trouble?" He asked as he looked back at the old man.
Dumbledore smiled and gave him a small nod. "It's no trouble at all Harry."
Harry wanted to run up to the man and give him a huge, tight hug. He thanked him a couple more times as he walked out of the office. He took a deep breath as he walked down the stairs and back to the Griffandor common room.
Ali had already fallen back asleep on the walk back so he laid her back down on his bed then quickly changed into his pajamas.
He wasn't feeling very tired so he walks over to the window and sat down on the ledge looking out at the moonlit lake. He glanced over at Alison every once in awhile with a small smile on his face. He really had missed his little sister and now she was here with him.
He couldn't remember how long he sat there, or when he fell asleep, but he jerked awake when he felt someone shake his shoulder. He readjusted his glasses and looked up to see that it was Ron who was shaking him.
"Hm? What is it?" He mumbled rubbing his eyes, still half asleep.
Ron nodded his head towards Harry's bed. "That your sister?"
Harry smiled a little and nodded. "Yeah that's Alison. Is she awake?"
When he nodded Harry quickly got up and walked to the edge of the bed where Ali was slowly sitting up and running the sleep out of her eyes.
He smiled and sat on the edge of the bed then wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Hey sleepyhead."
She automatically leaned into him and snuggled into his side. "Hey." She mumbled sleepily.
He kissed the top of her head and looked down at her, confused as to why she seemed so tired. Then it got him.
This was probably her first good night's rest in months. Harry had always made sure she went to bed on time and if needed, did some of her chores to make sure that happened.
But now that he wasn't there, she was doing twice the work, taking twice the beatings and insults, and probably wasn't getting as much sleep as she needed.
"Al I know you probably just want to go back to sleep, but I need to go to my classes today so let's get you dressed and fed then you can go back to sleep when I get you to Dumbledore okay?" He whispered softly.
She nodded feebly and slowly got herself changed with some help from Harry then laid her head on his shoulder when he picked her up and walked out.
He smiled when he saw her eyes light up when he walked into the great hall and she saw all the food on the tables.
He sat down on a bench next to Ron and Hermione and began putting as much food as he could on a plate for her remembering hearing her stomach rumbling and growling loudly most of the night.
She immediately began to devour it all as soon as he set it down in front of her making him feel just a twinge of sadness. No child should get so excited over food and be so starved.
He ate then waited patiently for her to get full and push her plate away before he picked her up and walked to Dumbledore's office.
After explaining to him about the things Ali liked and didn't like, he gave her one last hug and a kiss on her head before walking to his first class hopping and praying that she'd be good for Dumbledore and that she'd be okay.
Authors note:
I know it's shorter than normal and its late and I'm really sorry about that. I've just had a bunch of after school activities and school stuff that I needed to do but here it is.
