Alison held her potions book closer to her face and squinted at the confusing text, hoping that somehow that would help her understand it better. But it didn't. She knew she couldn't ask Professor Snape for help because Harry had warned her about him. He hated them. He'd probably tell her the wrong thing to put in it and make it explode and disintegrate her.

She sighed and put in what looked like a Mandrake root into the weird looking and smelling substance in her cauldron. It began to bubble a lot, almost like it was boiling. That must not have been it. She thought.

She looked over to her right and saw Derrick smirking as he walked over to her table. She groaned quietly and turned away, trying to ignore him. "Go away Derrick."

"Why should I?"

"Because I'm trying to do my work. You should be too."

"I alrighty finished." He said proudly.

Ali rolled her eyes. "Then go help one of your hopelessly stupid friends."

"But I came here to help you." He said taking her book from her.

She tried to grab it back, but he held it up so it was just out of her reach. "Give it back Derrick!"

He laughed and threw it into her cauldron then made a run for it. She looked down at the contents and saw it was starting to turn weird colors and expand rapidly.

"What is going on?" She heard Professor Snape ask as he walked back into the classroom just before whatever was in her cauldron exploded. Sticky, puke green goo flew everywhere and left not one student untouched by the foul smelling concoction. Including Professor Snape.

I'm sooo dead. She thought, grimacing a bit.

Snape casually wiped the goo off his cheek as he stalked over to her. Alison immediately looked down at her shoes, afraid of what he was going to do and say. She never looked directly at her potions teacher. He scared her too much. She remembered how Harry and Ron told her that sometimes he would hit them when he got annoyed and upset with them. She didn't like being hit. It was already bad enough that her Aunt and Uncle hit her, did her teachers have to hit her too?

"Alison Potter." Snape said slowly. "This was your doing I presume?"

Ali kept her head down and nodded a bit. "Y-yes sir."

He put his hand under her chin and lifted her head up so she was forced to look at him. The moment their eyes locked Snape let go of her and almost jumped back with a shocked expression on his face.

"But it wasn't her fault!" Cried out Sarah, the only friend Ali had at this school. Actually, she was the only friend she had when she thought about it.

Snape turned his head to look at the short brown haired girl and raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? Then who's was it exactly?"

Sarah pointed over at Derrick who's smirk immediately fell when the greasy black haired professor walked over to him  with a scowl on his face. "Fifty points from Slytherin."

"Fifty!? Are you mad!? Slytherin's your house, you're supposed to be helping us!" One of Derrick's little followers protested.

"Then maybe next time you should remind your fellow peer that I do not tolerate boys picking on younger girls for the fun of it. Would you like to join him in detention Mr. Young?"

The boy immediately shook his head and looked at the floor, suddenly very interested in his shoes.

Snape smirked a bit and looked back down at Derrick. "And as for you Mr. Weston, I want you to meet me in my office after class so we can discuss how you're going to clean up this mess and get Miss. Potter a new schoolbook."

Derrick gaped at the potions teacher then glared at Alison raising his wand. Before anyone had anytime to react he yelled, "Hematomus!"

Ali didn't even have time to scream when she was thrown backward into the ground by the spell. Her left are slowly began to feel like it was on fire and she could feel blood start trickling down her arm. She looked up and saw a bunch of kids from both Slytherin and Gryffindor crowding around her.

"Out of my way!" Snape yelled as he pushed through the crowd of kids. He knelt down in front of Ali and pulled her sleeve up when he saw the blood trickling off the tips of her fingers, splattering on the dark tiles. Her eyes widened when she saw what was causing the burning feeling on her forearm.

Almost her entire forearm was a dark red and right in the center was a large, white boil that was bleeding quite a bit and had some puss streaming out as well. She cried out in pain and gripped her arm tightly only causing the pain to increase and cry out again.

Snape bit his bottom lip and looked up at Sarah who was looking at her friend's arm with horror. "Take Miss. Potter to the Hospital Wing as fast as you can."

Sarah nodded and together they slowly got Alison to her feet and out the door. Snape made sure Ali could walk on her own without swaying too much.

"I... it hurts!" Ali cried. "I want Harry!"

Sarah nodded but kept pulling the poor girl to the Hospital Wing. "I know you do but you have to get that looked at and fixed by Madame Pomfrey okay?"

Alison sighed and nodded her head just a little then wiped a couple tears that had fallen from her eyes. The entire way she bit down on her bottom lip and clenched her hands into tight fists, trying to resist the urge to scratch the itching boil. It didn't help that the five minute walk there felt like an eternity.

Once they had finally arrived, Sarah quickly explained to Madame Promfrey what had happened to Ali's arm.

Madame Promfrey had listened closely to Sarah while she gingerly grabbed Alison's arm and inspected the large, bloody wound. "Ah yes, the Bleeding Boil Curse. The Ministry outlawed this curse years ago when people began to use it in pranks. I expect them to be quite upset with that boy's parents. Thank you Miss Humfrey, you may leave now."

Ali waved goodbye to her friend with her good arm before she turned to attention back to the nurse.

"Now then, why don't you just go lie down on a bed and roll up your sleeve to your armpit. The boil won't hurt quite as much if nothing touches it." She instructed the young girl before rushing off to her office.

Alison hesitantly did what she was told. The pain in her arm was gradually increasing and becoming more and more gross looking. Brushing her hand against it when she rolled up her sleeve didn't help that at all.

"Here we are."

Ali looked up and saw Madame Promfrey quickly walking back over to her, a bright blue bottle in one of her hands.

"Now I will warn you, this cream will gradually help the boil go away but it does sting quite a bit. It also has to be applied every couple hours." The nurse told her, opening the bottle.

Alison instinctively moved as far away from the woman as the bed would allow her. Why would medicine make things hurt worse when it's supposed to make it feel better!?

"Can... can my brother come?" She asked in a small, feeble voice. "Please?"

Madame Promfrey opened her mouth to tell the young girl that Harry couldn't come because he was in class, when the bell rang signaling the end of classes for the day.
