"Welcome children."

Alison and Sarah glanced nervously at each other as they took their seats in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Ali had told Sarah about how Umbridge had tried to turn the jury at Harry's trial against him and make Professor Dumbledore look like a fool. Thankfully the only friend she had her age was on the Potter's and Dumbledore's side of the debate about Voldemort's return.

Alison's gaze met the Professor's and she instantly got a sick feeling in her stomach. The way her cold, dark eyes stared into her soft green ones made her feel uneasy. Like she knew exactly what your greatest weakness was and was planning on how to use it against you.

"You're Alison Potter correct?" The woman in pink's chipper voice broke through the twelve year old's thoughts.

"Um... yes. I am." Ali answered quietly, feeling everyone's heads turn to her.

"Your brother was just here a couple hours ago and started a rather... pointless argument with me in front the entire class. I do hope you know how to behave yourself better than him so we can have a nice, educational class."

The young girl's hands slowly clenched into fists under her desk. "I don't think Harry would be the one to start an argument with you. And if he was arguing about something you said, I don't think it was pointless. He doesn't fight for no reason."

She felt Sarah's eyes widen as she stared at her. Alison had hardly ever spoken up in class, and never if she hadn't been called on. She normally would just let things like this go, smiling politely and nodding along to get the attention off of her. But this woman infuriated her like no other. She wouldn't let her try to make a fool of her brother and embarrass her.

She could see Umbridge's jaw clench slightly but quickly rightened it with a tight smile. "I had to give your brother detention for speaking out in my class and spreading ridiculous lies about Cedric Diggory's death and a certain dark wizard. Do I need to give you the same punishment my dear?"

"But he's not lying professor, Voldemort really is back and he really did Cedric!" Alison shot back, gripping onto the edges of her chair.

The older woman sighed and folded her hands. "Well it seems as though I will be seeing you after class in my office young lady."

"What's wrong with your hand?" Hermione's voice cut through Alison's thoughts as she, Sarah, Harry, and Ron sat around the fireplace in the common room doing their homework.

She quickly looked down to make sure the oversized sweater she had changed into as soon as she was through with Umbridge's "detention" covered the engraving on her hand.

"Nothing." Harry muttered, shoving his left hand under the book he was holding and holding out his right.

"Not that one." Hermione rolled her eyes and grabbed his other hand, her eyes widening. "You've got to tell Dumbledore."

"What happened? What's wrong with your hand?" Alison asked, setting her essay and books aside to walk over to the couch the three were sitting on. She had hoped Harry's detention hadn't been like her's but it looked like they were very similar.

She knelt next to the couch and grabbed the hand Hermione was holding, looking down at the I must not tell lies with a horrified expression on her face.

"It's nothing. Really." Harry pulled his hand away and glanced at Hermione. "Dumbledore's got a lot on his mind right now. I don't want to bother him with something that's not important."

"But she's torturing you mate." Ron whispered.

"No she isn't. Didn't even feel it." Harry muttered, looking down at his book. He tried to pretend he was working on his homework when his sister shot her own right hand in front of his face.
