Lauren's POV:

Josh said that he was sorry, I couldn't handle that being the last thing he said to me before he blanked out, as for some reason I had felt extremely guilty.

"Is he okay?" I asked mike immediately, praying for him to have a positive response.
"We need to get him water, but we desperately need a doctor, I don't want him losing too much blood." The tone in his voice was clearly full of worry.

His grip on my hand had become more weak, as his hand disconnected from mine. "Josh..josh wake up, please wake up!" I begged him as I put my hand on his head to check his temperature, it was extremely cold.

He must have been going through some sort of hyperthermia, his was icy cold, and the colour in his face was fading.

I immediately grabbed a blanket from the couch, as I wrapped it around him. Chris tried to start the fire, hoping for him to get warmer.

The whole atmosphere was dark, and depressing, I had felt as if I had been ill as well as josh, mainly because of how much I didn't want him to be hurt.

I looked over at mike, whose eyes were closed as he looked at the floor in an upsetting tone. "Mike..I promised him that I would help him get better..I promise-" I burst out crying, not being able to control my emotions.

"You can still keep your promise Lauren..he is going to get through this." Mikes hand rested on my shoulder for reassurance, as I rested my head in my hands.

I looked down upon Josh's freezing body in hope, as I saw him regaining his colour, mainly from the fire.
My eyes lit up, as my eyes glimmered in hope.

"Mike..mike!" I said in delight, as everyone crowded around josh. I could see his chest beating more frequently now, which made me feel a lot better.

Josh managed to slightly mumble something. "L-Lauren.." He stuttered.
His arm was so weak, as he found it difficult to give me something from his pocket.

"Take this a-and leave." His cold hands passed me the keys to the ski lift, as he rested his hand on my hand.
He closed his eyes, gesturing us to leave without him.

"No..you are coming with us." I demanded, as I lifted his t shirt slightly to see his wound, just to see if he is still bleeding, which he was. It wasn't as intense as earlier, but he was still losing blood and we knew that he wouldn't be able to carry on for much longer if he had bled heavily like earlier.

Luckily, Ashley ran down the stairs as she had been searching for things to help josh, she had discovered some bandages in the cupboard in the upstairs bathroom.

She passed them to me, as I felt a little bit of relief, hoping that this could stop the bleeding. "Thank you."

I wrapped the bandaged around Josh's torso, where the wound was situated.
His face scrunched up in pain, as I slightly moved him up so that I could cover his whole body.

That immediately slowed down the bleeding, as I tried to calm him down. My warm fingers circled his chest, as I felt him become more relaxed. He was so, so cold.

We heard the screams of the familiar creatures coming from the left side of the mountain. "Oh god.." Sam murmured as she looked around anxiously.

She picked up the shotgun, as mike picked up the flamethrower.
"Lauren..we got to go." Mike whispered as everybody rushed to the door.

"Help me carry josh..please." I begged chris and mike, they looked unsure, almost as if they were willing to leave him behind.

"Please!" I begged desperately, "I am not leaving here with without him."

Chris ran to my side, as he put his arm around Josh's back, allowing him to carry him easily.

Josh shouted in pain, as he dragged himself to the others, as we were leaving the lodge.

Everyone was shaking from the cold, and josh was getting immensely ill. I remembered how far away the ski lift was and that terrified me. Ashley's phone somehow received signal, as she rang police and ambulances. I could hear the persons voice trough the phone, as my whole body stood still with fear.

"We can't help you until dawn." I looked down at josh whose health was slowly deteriorating. My chest felt frozen, as I found myself struggling to breath.

My hands were beginning to turn white from the weather, as I gripped onto josh more tightly.

Everybody was so quiet. The silence was so unsettling. It felt like the calm before the storm.

Until the screeches and loud breathing of the strong creatures returned.

It immediately ran over to us, especially over to me, chris and josh.
Chris dropped josh to the floor, as he ran away from the creature, abandoning us.

I fell to the ground with josh, mainly because I was so cold, and because I physically couldn't hold josh up by myself.

The snow was so cold, as it touched my soft skin. I was still holding onto josh on the floor, it was almost a way to feel comfort and protection even though I knew we were practically hopeless.

Before I closed my eyes, I noticed a small butterfly slowly gliding through the air, it was struggling to still keep ip in the snowy sky, as it started to fall.

It fell down onto my arm, as it gave one last final push to try and fly away, although his wings seemed to freeze up, as it stood still on my arm. Until it dropped slowly into the snow, as I saw this butterfly's worries slowly fade away, it was almost a beautiful and therapeutic thing to watch, as I had only hoped that my death would be that simple and peaceful.
