Chapter 12: Nightmares.

"Ah!" I shouted, un-aware of my actions, as I jumped up from my previous dream, or my nightmare.

Josh immediately jumped, as he squeezed my waist tightly. "What's wrong..what is it!" He said, huskily. There was a clear sound of fear, and defence in his voice.

"I..I saw Emily, Jessica, matt, Beth and Hannah." I said panicking, as I started to shake, as my eyes welled up, and I couldn't control my tears.
"I didn't save them..I couldn't save them..I should have saved them." My heart beat was at an intense and uncomfortable pace.

Josh's hands rushed to my hair as he soothingly ran his fingers through it.
"There was nothing we could have done, don't beat yourself up about it."

My heart was still beating at a rate that was not good. "Shhh..now go back to sleep, you need a good rest." He advised me, sweetly.

"I don't think I can josh." I said in a scared yet sad tone, as I felt extremely bad for waking him up from his sleep.
He rolled over to his side as he quickly checked his phone for the time, it was only 3 a.m, as I felt really bad.

"Sorry I woke you up josh.." I apologised repeatedly.
"It's fine..it's fine. What do you want to do? You obviously can't go back off to sleep, do you want to go for a walk, or we could go for a drive in your new car?" He suggested as his hand still rubbed my arm, gently.
"No, you go back off to sleep. I will just go for a drive." I said as I got out of bed and put my tights and skirt back on, quickly.

Josh laughed as he got up also, "Do you really think I'd let you go by yourself in this state?" He put on his t-shirt also, as he tiredly walked over to me.

"Thank you.." I whispered in his ear as I walked past, which made him smile.
Nobody has ever done such a sweet thing for me before, as it made me feel warm inside, and special.

Josh grabbed my car keys from my table, as he opened my front door, all gentlemen-like, allowing me to leave first, "I didn't take you as the gentlemen type." I laughed loudly.
"Hey..what is that supposed to mean?" He questioned me with a smirk.

"I am only kidding.." I whispered as I shut the door after him, as he spun me around by my waist, which instantly made me jump.

He put his arms safely gripping onto my hips, as he slightly bent down to peck my lips. It wasn't anything too romantic, but it made my whole body tense up, I felt so loved, which was so unusual for me.

"I know exactly where we should go." He whispered in my ear.
"Where?" I asked him.
"It's a surprise." My eyebrow lifted, as I was intrigued by his 'mysterious' actions, from my curiosity.

I completely trusted him though, as I held his hand in mine, as we walked down to the car park, where my new car was currently parked.

He smiled and laughed as he looked down at my new car, "What..what's so funny?" I said confused.
"It's a small car, just like you." He said as he poked my nose, playfully, which made me laugh.
"I am not that small..at least not with my tall boots on." I said as I smirked, josh rolled his eyes, as he knew that I was so short and that I'd always be.

We got inside of the car, as josh sat in the drivers seat, "what are you doi-" I was interrupted by Josh's quiet voice, "I think it's best I drive." He said as he noticed me slightly falling back asleep.
I nodded my head in agreement, as I sat in the passenger seat beside him.

He drove us down the dark, misty roads for what must have been over half an hour. I was surprised josh wasn't falling back asleep by now, as it was still so early in the morning.
