Chapter 38: Old Memories.

I had woken up with a pounding headache, and the sounds of familiar voices shouting and screaming.

For a moment I sat with my eyes closed, not wanting to see what was going on around me, in pure fear.

Until I heard Josh's voice. My eyes immediately opened, as I searched for him in the room with my eyes.

"Josh! Josh!" I shouted out loudly, trying to find him.

That was when I realised where we were. I was in Blackwood pines. The surroundings was familiar, as I knew it was the lodge.

A tear escaped my eye, as I was so afraid.

I looked too my right and saw chris and Ashely handcuffed to a wall, just like I was.

Then I saw Sam and Mike on both sides of me, but josh wasn't here.

"Josh!" I cried, as I desperately needed to here his soothing voice.
"Lauren.." I heard him say but in a quiet voice, he was obviously in the room next to us.

A man startled me, as the door flew open. Standing there was a couple of the men that hit us earlier, he was dragging josh towards me.

I tried to run to his side but I forgotten that I was stuck, I couldn't move at all.

"Josh.." I said feeling hurt. He saw me and he tried to put on a brave smile, but I could see he was struggling.

That's when I realised the cut on his cheek, they must have hurt him.
"You bastards..get off him." I shouted as I tried to get out of my handcuffs but it was impossible.

One of the men rushed up to me, as he held me back against the wall with his hand wrapped around my neck, suffocating and strangling me.
"Now you listen here..you do what we say or you will end up like him." He shouted in my face, as he pointed to josh. Then he let go of my neck, letting me breath properly again.

"Don't touch her again, you fucking hear me. If you want to be angry go ahead and take it out on me."
"We have no time for love stories..we need to finish off what you started once and for all." The man shouted loudly.

Everyone was waking up around us now, and they all looked as confused as we do. "What are we doing here?"

"Well..we are the American government and we have been told to execute you all." My heart sunk with those words as I held onto the floor feeling sick from complete fear.
"Why? What the fuck?" I heard mike shout.
"We just can't let the world think there is monsters out there..we can't let the people with evidence live on..which is you guys. This has been long overdue and it needs to finish once and for all."

I looked over at josh as we both looked so tired and frightened.

"But we won't say anything." I blurted out, hoping they would let us go.
"It's too late..you guys have already told family, friends, news and media."

"We are sorry but it's our job to get rid of the extras from an accident."

The sounds of the monsters running around outside was clear within the room we were staying in.

"No..no please. Please don't do this." I begged as I was immediately panicking and afraid of the monsters returning to hurt us.

"I tell you what..I will give you a tiny bit of hope by putting the keys to all of your handcuffs right here.." He said as he put them on the furthest hall away from us, that nobody could reach.
"That is the last thing you will work for." He laughed, as he also put a small pistol on the floor next to it.
"Good luck getting that."

"How will you cover up our deaths?" I shouted in confusion and anger.
"By saying all of you had disappeared..we can dispose of your bodies afterwards."

The sounds of loud screams alarmed everyone as the men in suits rushed to the exit. "Goodbye.." He murmured as they both ran out of the lodge.

I got up from the floor, standing up, trying to get out of the handcuffs. To aim to reach the keys and the pistol.

"Oh god.." I whispered whilst trying to remove myself from the handcuffs.

After half an hour of trying to escape I had given up. My wrists were bleeding and I had felt so tired.

Mike and josh were still trying to get out if their handcuffs, whereas everyone had now given up at this point.

I collapsed to the cold floor, as I let the tears fall down my face, allowing me to just fully give up on myself.

"Lauren..are you okay? Lauren.." I heard josh whisper as he must have noticed my change in effort and enthusiasm.
"We can do this! Fucking hell guys..just try your hardest. We will get out alive."

The sounds of a loud snap alarmed me, as I looked down at my handcuffs and realised my wrist was full of blood, allowing me to squeeze out of my restrictions.

I was confused firstly as I looked down at my free wrists and took a moment to actually process what I was feeling.

"I'm free..I'm.." I said in happiness and shock as I quickly rushed up to the keys.

Everybody was smiling and it created more of a positive and hopeful atmosphere between us all.

"Go Lauren..!" Mike shouted.
"Get us out of here." Ashely said whilst crying.

"I will try.." I said nervously as I held the key in my hands, and I put the pistol into my other hand.

Everybody was shouting at me angrily, demanding my attention. They were all calling for me, hoping that I would help them out first but everything seeme to slow down.

I ran to Josh's side first, as I held onto Josh's hand. "Oh babe..thank you." He cried as I helped him out of his handcuffs.

He then took the pistol from my hand and guarded me as I helped everyone else.

The key helped me to unlock everyone, except for Ashely. "What the hell?" I said scared as I tried my hardest to unlock her from the handcuffs.

"It's not working..I am trapped here." Ashely started to panic as she held onto chris' hand for support.

"I don't know what to do.." I said anxiously as I was experiencing a panic attack.

Josh grabbed the gun and aimed for the chains, trying to set her free, but it did nothing.

After the loud bullet noise, we heard multiple screams and breathing noises echo throughout the house.

"Holy shit." Mike said in worry, as a creature ran past the window.

"We need to go." Sam shouted, as she held onto mikes arm, feeling panicked.
"Don't go..don't go.." Ashley cried, as I started to cry also.

Chris kneeled down by Ashley's side, refusing to leave her.
"I love you." Chris whispered to Ashely quickly.
"Go..fucking go!" He shouted to us all as he held Ashley's hand tightly, and he hugged her. They just sat there together, not trying to escape any further and that was there end.

I didn't want to leave and my feet felt frozen, until josh grabbed onto my wrist tightly, pulling me away from them, running away as quickly as we could.

My arms were shaking in fear, as we ran to a room upstairs, with mike and Sam also. The sounds of Ashely and chris' screams echoed throughout the abandoned lodges halls.

"Ahhh!" Ashely screamed in unison with chris, as we all become silent.

Josh locked the door behind us, as everyone was looking around frantically to find a way out of here. To survive.

"There's no use.." I said stressfully, as I felt a sharp sting hit my stomach. I held onto my stomach in pain, my vision blurred and I could see black dots appear everywhere.

My head was aching as I felt everything spin around extremely quickly.

"Oh..god..j-josh.." I said in between breaths as I fell to the floor immediately.

Josh collapsed to my side as he held onto my arm tightly. "Lauren!"
