Chapter 40: The Final Step.

One week later:

Sam's POV:

The cold wind ran through my hair, and through my black dress.

My tears were constant, my vision was blurred.

In my cold hands were red roses, but I could still feel as if there was blood all over my hands.

The sounds of screams from my fallen friends echoed through my ears, I could feel myself becoming crazy.

The image of Josh crying and his hands shaking, grabbing onto an object I would never want him to hold so closely to his skin.

"Wake up..please." His begs were becoming louder in my mind, as I remembered him clinging onto Lauren's limp body, with tears flowing from his delicate eyes.

Many people were surrounding me as I knelt down to the wet ground from the heavy rain.

"She was such a beautiful girl."

"She didn't deserve this."

I managed to open my eyes as I glanced down to the grave in front of me.

"Here lies:

Lauren Washington
Rest In peace.

1995-2015.
Loving wife and loving daughter.
Forever in our hearts."

A loud cry left my lips, as I put the flowers down on top of Lauren's grave. I noticed to my right was her dad, he was in no state of mind to even think.

His whole body was shaking in pain, emotional pain, as his cries were constant and loud.

"They took away my little princess..my baby girl." He cried as he rested his hand on to the top of her gravestone.

A small crowd gathered to her grave, as I could see how distraught everyone was feeling.

Pete was there with Hannah. His eyes were bloodshot, and he had a large frown on his face. He didn't look well as he had lost all colour in his face, from grief.

Mr and Mrs Washington were standing there crying, holding onto each other tightly. Both seeming like they may collapse from sadness.

Mike couldn't even make it down here to see the funeral, he wasn't in any shape or form to walk, let alone drive down here.

They hurt him so bad.

"They hurt all of us so bad." I thought to myself as I looked around to the many sad faces surrounding me.

I got up from the floor moving slightly over as I picked up the white flowers in my pocket.

I knelt down to the grave right next to hers, as I felt another sharp pain electrify my body from my grief.

I placed the flowers beneath the grave stone, as I stood up from the floor.

It took me a couple of seconds to finally open my eyes, feeling so lost.

Disbelief was running constantly through my mind.

"My baby.." I heard Mrs Washington shout in pain.

As I glanced down to the gravestone next to Lauren's.

"Here lies:

Joshua Washington
Rest In peace.

Loving husband and loving son.
Never will he be forgotten."

A sudden image re-appeared in my mind, as I could see Josh's cold body holding onto Lauren's. There hands locked tightly together. As the gunshots from the pistol josh was holding too closely to his head suddenly ran through my mind.

"They will be happy.." I cried, trying to bring some hope back after everything that has happened.

"They will be happy together..for eternity." I said trying to hold back my tears, as I glanced back at their graves that were connected.

For a second I felt myself completely turn insane, as I could see a slight shadow of two people holding onto each other tightly right above their graves.

It somehow managed to put a small smile on my face, even though I knew it was my imagination. As I wiped my eyes, seeing the shadows disappear.

My shaking, icy hands gripped onto the soft tissue that was in my pocket, as I gently wiped away the tears that has stained my cheeks with mascara.

I took in a deep breath as I managed to gather some courage to say my final words towards their gravestones.

"You both went way too soon..and I know..I know you would have been a great mother and father." I said in between cries.

"I hope you rest in peace..together."

Everything turned silent, as I whispered quietly.

"Goodbye, friends."
