Chapter 17: The Bad Memory & Mr. Nice Guy
Kaylie's POV:
The next couple days past by fast. Jason and Lucy were still kind of awkward with each other, though I still don't know what had happened between them or how they found one another. I went back to home to Ohio for a couple and brought Cal along with me. Hopefully this time, there'll be less tension between everyone.
"Everything will be fine, Cal." I told him.
"Really? 'Cause you're the one that's all jittery," Cal chuckled.
"You can't blame me. The last time we were in this position was two years ago." He flinched at the thought.
"Don't remind me, Kay."
We got to the front door and I fished out my keys and opened the door.
"Hello?" I called out.
"Hey! We weren't expecting you until later today, sweetie!" Mom exclaimed and hugged me, then turned to Cal when we pulled away. "It's nice to see you in a different light, Calvin."
He chuckled lightly. "Nice to see you again, Miss Casilla. I hope it's okay that I'm here."
"I don't know if the boys will like it too much. And please, we're not how we were two years ago. Call me Kassandra."
"Thank you, Kassandra."
"Make yourselves comfortable, the boys, Jenni, and the kids are in the living room. You guys have some things to talk about."
I was nervous to see their reactions. Kris and Kyle were always protective of me, especially after our dad died. If a boy came near me, they had to get through them before they could even lay a hand on me... And sometimes it was just too much, you know?
"Hey guys," I greeted them with a hug.
"Hey Baby Sis," Kris and Kyle greeted each hugging me back.
"What's the dude doing back here?" Kyle asked as we pulled away.
"He's harmless guys. There's no more Jason, and Cal is kinda, sorta back in my life again." Cal's hand went to the small of my back.
"I'm not saying I approve of this, but it'll take time to take that in. You were a big part of my sister's life. I can't deprive her of that." Kris acknowledged. "But don't think I can't cut your-"
"Kristoph, our children are in this room." Jenni scolded, making us all laugh.
Cal raised his hands in surrender as he chuckled. "Our first encounter wasn't the greatest, I can agree on that. I'll do anything to keep that cute smile on Kaylie's face." With that, I blushed.
"Dinner's ready kids!" Mom called.
This was going to be a great night tonight.

Later that night, Cal and I were getting settled in what was once my bedroom when I was back here. Mom kept it the way it was so I can use it whenever I came to visit.
"Your room hasn't changed, " Cal said as he looked around at all the stuff I had on my walls.
"It hasn't. The only thing that's changed are the bed sheets." I answered, sitting down on my bed.
He sat down beside me. "I don't think this bed can fit both of us. I have a king size back in Boston."
I let out a soft chuckle. "This is only a queen, it's not too bad." I stood up to look through the clothes in my closet and fished out one of Cal's T-shirt's and a pair of leggings, then stopped. "Don't look."
