Chapter 8: A Fresh Start & A Trip to the Past
Kaylie's POVI know what Cal meant by second chances, I just wanted to give him a hard time. Judging by the persistence, he's either up to no good or is actually willing to give us a shot because he's in love with me. Probably the first one or both, but ugh. He confuses the hell out of me. I mean I like him and I'm still in love with him, but it's hard, you know? To just give someone else another shot after being in a horrible break up at the freaking airport, too.
Gosh, my family doesn't even know since I've been on the plane for a couple hours now. I wonder how I even deserved to get cheated on in the first place. Like am I that easy to cheat on? Geez.
Well anyway, I'll need to remind myself to tell my family about Jason later. I don't even know how to get my way around Harvard.
WAIT.
Do I even have a dorm? Well, shoot. There goes that. Maybe I can ask Cal.... Ugh, but then that'd be awkward. But I don't wanna go to Jason's place either. Cal it is then.
"Kayles," someone nudged me out of my thoughts. Cal.
"What?" I mutter, keeping my eyes away from him.
"You seem rather off. What are you trying to avoid?"
"Nothing."
"I don't like that."
"You don't like a lot of things," I mutter to myself as I play with the rings on my fingers.
"Kaylie Marie Casilla-" My jaw stiffened up.
"Don't call me that."
"Why?"
"Nothing." I turn away.
"Sorry."
The only person who has ever called me that was my dad, and that should stay that way. Calvin had never called me by my full name. I never knew how he got to know my middle name.
5 months. That's how long it took for him to steal my heart and break it in front of our school. That was probably the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened. But I opened my heart to him anyway, hoping he would understand. I told him basically everything, except for my middle name. I knew him all too well now. He was easy to read. He hasn't changed one bit in the past two year, but I knew there was something he was hiding and that made me more intrigued by him.
I never knew what it was that made me kiss him that night. Maybe it was because I missed him and his touch. It felt like home for me. Just him being present made me feel warm and I didn't want that to go away. The only thing keeping me from taking him back was trust. Being scared of having my heart shattered yet again like 2 years ago. I didn't want that to happen.
So if he wanted to explain himself, he had one chance. When we get off this plane, this would be a fresh start for me at a new school and town. But my only question was how he got on this flight. Was he going to Harvard as well? I wouldn't be surprised actually. He was a straight A student with all the extra curricular activities. He was on the football team and had so many scholarships waiting for his approval. He had so many things ahead of him, but there was something stopping him from graduating early and going to college. He's amazingly attractive, he could be an Abercrombie & Fitch model or something. You would probably expect that from a guy like him, right? Not Calvin Austin. The one thing everyone needs to know about the guy is how he is full of so many surprises.
"Kaylie," Cal broke the long silence between us which made me look over at him. "We're about to land." He put on my seat belt for me before putting on his own. Surprised yet?
"Calvin?" I croaked. This time his eyes just averted quickly to mine, his jaw stiffening at the sound of his full name.
"Kaylie, please call me Cal."
"I'll be calling you Calvin until I get used to being around you." He gave me a confused look, relaxing his jaw. God, can he get any more attractive? Is that even possible?
"What do you mean 'get used to being around me' ?" Okay, now he was just being cute.
"You know what I mean."
"No, I actually don't Kaylie Marie. Please, explain yourself." He smirked and leaned back into his seat.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it will be 5 minutes until we land, 5 minutes until we land in Boston." The person over the intercom said.
"I'll have you know that you won't get any explanation until we get off this plane and all our stuff somewhere safe and warm," I chuckled.
This was it. I was getting a fresh start somewhere new with someone not so new.

A/N:
Guess who's back?!
Yes, this chapter has been more than overdue, but summer school P.E. is almost done and I will be back to writing this very very soon.
Please let me know what you think of this chapter!
Also, here's another picture of the Lucy Hale, or Kaylie Casilla, if you will.
Do you think team Callie can give it another shot?
Vote & Comment! (:
