Chapter 4: Flashbacks & Surprise Visitors

"Guys! There's a couple people I'd love for you to meet!" Kris exclaimed.
We all went to the living room to see who it was. I smiled when I saw Jenni and the kids, but that smile faded when I saw the next person that came through the door.
Him.
"You," he said, looking straight at me.
You've got to be kidding me.

"Calvin," I croaked, keeping my gaze away from him. I saw how he winced at the fact that I called him his actual name.
Are you freaking serious?! Why the hell is he in my house? We haven't seen each other since Senior Year of high school and, let me say this, that year didn't end well. To say everyone was shocked that we knew each other, besides Mom and Kyle of course, was an understatement. But to say that we were surprised to see each other again? Well, that would be an overwhelming understatement.
My mom hated the guy to Hell and back. After what had happened 2 years ago, I doubt she would be liking him anytime soon. She knew what happened because she saw what went down at school. She was, of course, the Vice Principal and actually still is to this day. That's how she made sure everything was up and running with me and my schoolwork since Kyle was away at grad school.
"Kaylie," Kris started. "Care to explain how you know Jenni's friend?"
"I would have thought he told you and Jenni by now. I guess he didn't," I answered with a straight face.
"Kaylie, don't." Calvin butted in.
I let out a bitter laugh and said, "I'm not gonna be anybody's little secret, Calvin." Then I turned to my brother. "We dated during our Senior Year."
It seemed to be surprising to Jenni because she gasped, whereas Kris and Kyle were ready to murder Calvin. Calvin just looked just as angry for some reason. I laughed inside, but my poker face still showed.
"What's the problem, Cal?" I asked. "Did you really think our 'relationship' wouldn't be found out?"
His jaw clenched after I spoke. "Don't start with me, Kaylie." He commanded, like I was a dog or something.
"Or what?" I retorted.
"Well," Kyle interrupted. "I think you guys should introduce us to the new edition."
"Yeah.. uh," Kris said nervously, scratching the back of his neck. "Kaylie, Kyle, Mom, I'd like you to meet my kids, Kale and Kassandra." He paused for a second and looked at Calvin. "And Jenni's friend, Calvin."
I knelt down to the babies who were still in their car seats and said, "Hi, babies." They smiled at me. "I'm your Auntie Kaylie, and I know I'm gonna be your favorite because Uncle Kyle isn't as great as I am."
Kyle scoffed, "Yeah right."
I rolled my eyes, "See?" They giggled. Then I stood up again and told everyone, "I'll be in my room if you guys need anything, okay?" After everyone, excluding Calvin, nodded, I went up to my room, shut the door, and sat on the floor for a couple of minutes.

FLASHBACK:
"Okay Cal, it's been a whole five months. I didn't think you could do it, but you did." One of Cal's friends said to him.
