Chapter 7: The Plane Ride & Kaylie

Cal's POV

When I found out about Kris and Jenni's return, I knew that they would lead me straight to Kaylie. That's the reason I went to pick them up in the first place. Kaylie. I knew Kris and Jenni had run off before Kaylie and I had ever started whatever we had during our senior year in high school.

To be honest, I don't know what came over me. Breaking her heart was the worst mistake I could hhave ever made in my life and I regretted it ever since. I wish I could take that day back, but I was in high school. I didn't know what else to do other than follow what my so-called friends told me to do- date the Principle's daughter for 5 months then break her heart. I owned up to my 'Playboy' status that day, but deep down I knew it was wrong and that I was only hurting her. That event stuck with me the two years we didn't see each other.

After the 2 years of not seeing her, it was surprising how much she didn't change. Kaylie was always so easy to read. The way she would bat her eyes when she felt tears prickle, or how it felt when she was in my arms. I didn't know what to think or say when I saw her that night. So the only word that came out of my mouth was "You". How stupid right?

When I heard about Kaylie going to the dance studio near her place, I knew that was my chance to prove that I wasn't the same person I was two years ago. I thought out what I was gonna say, but when I saw her dance, I was speechless. It was so... meaningful, and sexy nonetheless. Then I was stupid and said, "What you did there was pretty hot." Who the hell says that?

I got nervous, like I was meeting her for the first time in my life. So I did what I had always done and covered up everything. Covered up my feelings when we dated and "broke up" in high school.

To be honest, I fell in love with her from the very start.

If I could do anything, I would turn back time and start us over. But that can't happen.

Everything that had happened in the dance studio the other night, everything that was said. They were all coming from my heart. The ballroom and contemporary dancing wasn't made up. I actually learned for Kaylie's sake and it finally payed off.

Well, kind of.

You see, the day Kaylie was leaving for Harvard, I saw something I probably shouldn't have seen. Her boyfriend and another. At the time, I thought that girl was just his sister or something, but when I saw them make out, that's where I was wrong. I knew it wasn't my place to tell Kaylie that her boyfriend was a prick, but being the truthful jerk I was, I took the chances and went for it. Of course I felt bad for the dude, but he didn't deserve Kaylie, and she didn't deserve a asshole like him.

The Plane Ride

"Kaylie," Jason called. "I'm so sorry."

You're making me laugh dude.

"You're only sorry you got caught," she barked, with her eyes closed. Damn, Kayles.

"I know that cheating is wrong. It just happened, okay? Megan and I are done with." Bullshit.

"I don't really need to know that. It's obvious we're not going to be together when we land so please another seat away from me, and take this with you." She unclasped the necklace from her neck and put it in his hand. Holy crap.

I sit in the seat in front of Kaylie and looked at her for a little bit. I see a chain going through the hole of the ring- the ring I gave her. She looks at me, then stares out the window and says, "Take a picture, it'll last longer."

"I'll consider it, Kayles." I answer with a smirk.

"It was sarcasm. Now go away."

"I'm not going anywhere." She seemed to flinch at that answer.

"You should go, Calvin."

"Look at me Kaylie." She does as I say. "You didn't deserve what Mason did to you."

"His name is Jason." Her jaw became stiff.

"Whatever, Jason, Mason. Same thing."

"Your point?"

"You deserve better. Maybe give people second chances." Please get my hint, Kaylie, I thought.

"I'm not giving him any chances." Good.

"Maybe not him, maybe someone else."

"Someone else as in you?" She raises her eyebrow. That's cute.

I just smile, in hopes that she says yes.

"Why?"

"Because I need to explain myself."

"And how are you going to do that?" She crosses her legs and leans back in her chair.

"I'll do everything it takes for you to take me back." I smirk. "That way, you know I'm not gonna run." She gives me a hesitant look.

Kaylie, you'll take me back. I'm not running this time.
