Chapter 19: Babysteps & Many Firsts

Jason's POV

I never really thought things would happen the way they did. Kaylie and Cal ended up together, and in some twisted way, I'm happy for them.

The past few months were a real change for me, especially with me and Lucy getting together.

Every day had a new adventure in store for us to explore. One day, we'd fight about something stupid, but we'd be okay with everything the next day. It was new for me, to say the least, but I'm happy with each moment I have with her.

I heard sizzling in the kitchen when I woke up, then smelled bacon.

I got out of my room to see the behind of a short blonde girl shaking to "Shake" by Jesse McCartney. That's my Lucy.

I walked over and wrapped my arms around her waist. Ya know, the guyish thing to do.

Lucy giggled and turned around in my arms. "Goodmorning sleepyhead," she greeted.

"Morning Princess," I kissed her cheek. "What are we making here?"

"Strawberry and banana crepes with bacon and syrup on the side." She turned around and placed all of those on a plate then handed it to me. "You're favorite."

I groan at the sight of the food on our plates. "I love you."

Her nose crinkled with the cute smile of hers. "I love you too."

We sat down across from each other like we always do when she was over at my place. I always loved having her around here.

We finished our breakfast after talking for a while. Then I got changed and Lucy and I went out for a stroll in the park.

"So," she started, "Anton and Sienna are coming to visit this weekend. I was thinking we could show them around and make them feel comfortable before they had back out to California."

"But we were going out to watch Star Wars this weekend," I whined.

Lucy rolled her eyes at me and chuckled. "Sweetie, you've seen that movie like a thousand times."

"Correction, I've seen the movie five times, thank you very much."

"Oh come on, you'll be meeting a couple of my friends from back home. It'll be the first of many firsts we'll have together."

I sighed. "Oh alright, but-"

She groaned. "What now?"

"You're taking me out next weekend."

Lucy hits me playfully and I laughed. "Why do I have to take you out?"

"Well, I mean it's only fair." I shrugged. "Also, you love me, so you'll do it anyway."

"This is true." She nodded.

I chuckle and grab her hand. And in that moment, it was first time I've ever felt like this with our progress: Happy.

2 Days Later

A squeal woke me up.

I looked at the clock, 4:30 PM. I overslept a shit ton.

I got up lazily, even though my bed was calling my name to come back. Then I remembered something: Anton and Sienna were coming today.

I splashed a bit of water on my face to wake me up, then brushed my teeth and got into a fresh set of clothes after.

There goes a first impression: being fashionably late in your own home.

"Jace!" Lucy's eyes gleamed as I awkwardly entered the room. "I'm glad you're awake, Anton and Sienna are here."

I let out an awkward laugh and waved at her two friends. "Sorry, I woke up late."

"It's okay, they just got here. Come sit." She patted on the couch cushion. I sat down and got comfortable.

"Guys, this is Jason." Lucy's arm looped in mine. "These are my friends Sienna and Anton."

"Ah," Anton started. "The cool, calm, and collected hottie you've been-"

"Anton!" Sienna scolded. "That wasn't something you were supposed to say."

I chuckled at the thought. "Cool, calm and collected hottie, huh babe?" I joked.

Lucy let out a nervous laugh. "Nice goin', Anton."

We all laughed at her cuteness. Maybe this weekend wouldn't be too bad after all.
