Is it so embarrassing to actually fall in love?
I honestly don't think so, but someone else seems to think it is.
Cal Austin is the school's Bad Boy. No one chooses to mess with him unless given the chance. His egoistic, yet sweet personality is som...
Everyone knows I'm the best with surprises, but it was hard to hide surprises from Kaylie. Kaylie knows everything.
I was surprised I'd actually pulled this off, if I was honest. Usually I would questioned until I finally broke the facade I fixed up. So when Kaylie went off to class, I took my time to get changed into something nice, pick up her family from the airport, and decorate the cottage whilst the Casillas gets settled in and rests from the jetlag hitting them.
I let go of the last of the balloons, put my hands on my hips, and looked at what I'd accomplished: red and white balloons, a few streamers, and some of Kaylie's favorite foods all in one place. Oh, and getting her family here as well.
"I gotta hand it to you, Cal. You did an awesome job with this place," Kaylie's mom stated as she patted me on the back.
"It wouldn't be a surprise without her own family here," I answered honestly. "Thank you for coming, Kassandra, it'll mean so much to Kayles for you guys to be here."
Kassandra gave me a smile and was about to say something when we all heard a car door slam shut. Everyone hushed as I quickly turned the lights out and made my way behind one of the vases.
The door opened, Kaylie walked in, and the lights came on, and then..
"SURPRISE!"

"Uh, what is going on?" Kaylie laughed, setting her bag and keys down. "What are you guys doing here?"
"Happy birthday, Honey." Kassandra greeted, hugging her daughter.
Kaylie looked like she mentally facepalmed herself. "I can't believe I forgot my own birthday."
My girlfriend's eye's landed on me and smiled. "You did this?"
I gave her a small smile. "If I say yes, do I get to hug you?" I asked playfully. She ran into my arms right then.
"Thank you."
"Happy birthday, Kayles." I ran my hand through her hair.
"Hey, we flew 614 miles to see you too, you know?" Kyle exclaimed, Kris agreeing with his brother's statement.
"You guys are awesome," Kaylie chuckled and hugged her big brothers.
The doorbell rang so I went to go answer it.
Once I opened the door, there was no need for introductions. Lucy flew right passed me, arms wide open for Kaylie, while Jason greeted me with a simple smile and head nod.
I closed the door after he came and smiled to myself as everything was going just as planned.
"I hope we're not too late for the cake," Lucy claimed after she and Kaylie hugged.
"I'm only here for cake," Jason interjected jokingly.
"I want cake now," Kaylie pouted making everyone chuckle.
"I guess we're cutting the cake now," I said with a smile on my face.
---------------
After a lot if cake eating and some adult drinks, everyone but Kaylie and I had fallen asleep somewhere around the cottage.
It was probably around 1 AM by the time I went outside and saw Kaylie lying on the grass. I took the chance to lay down next to her and look at what she was looking at.
"Who knew the stars would be so beautiful at this time?" She asked with a smile small on her face.
"I'd say something cheesy, but you're not one to like clichés," I chuckled.
Kaylie laughed, making her dimple show. "You surprise me a lot, Calvin Austin."
"All good surprises I hope." I interlocked our hands.
"Give or take one or two." Her landed on me now. "I have to give it to you. Keeping a secret like a surprise party from me is pretty hard."
"I surprised myself when I realized I could keep something like this." We chuckled.
"Thank you for reminding me that I had been birthed twenty-one years ago." She joked.
I shrugged. "You've been working yourself too hard lately, you deserve a good surprise every once in a while."
"I appreciate it. I can't believe I actually forgot when my birthday was."
"Well, break is coming up soon." I sat up and looped my arm around her shoulders so she was leaning against me. "Once it comes, you have all the time in the world to think about your next birthday bash."
Kaylie chuckled in my arms. "Have I told you I love you?"
A smile made its way to my face. "Plenty, Sweetheart." I chuckled. "But I love you, too."
