"Gregory!" I heard my name being call from downstairs. My older brother, I could tell. I was in the attic working on... something... it was a surprise for my mom. I'd told her about my friend before, but he was only imaginary so no one could see him. Then one day, some nice kids at school told me to make my friend and show it to them. They said they'd love to meet him! They even offered to teach us a lesson! I don't know what they'd teach us though... I was hoping they'd teach me how to draw. I'm pretty bad at drawing. My brother, Jimmy Casket, didn't like those boys much. He said they were mean to me. He even hit one of those kids after they were trying to help me! They said I had something on my face, so they were going to get it off. And then, while he was reaching to get rid of it, Jimmy punched him. Square in the face! It was cool, I admit, but it was terrifying at the same time. I'd never seen him hit anyone like that before. I mean... yeah, I guess you could say they were abit rude sometimes, but they meant good, I was sure of it. And plus, Jimmy did have a small anger issue...

"Gregory, come on! We're supposed to be going to the park today, remember?" I could hear him climbing the stairs to the attic. I quickly hid my little project. I didn't want anyone to spoil it for me. I wanted to do it all by myself! "What're you doing up here? Didn't you hear me calling for you?? C'mon, we need to go, mom's already in the car!" "Uh, no, I didn't hear you." I lied, I knew I did. He knew I did too... but I spoke up before he could say anything, "I'll come down in a minute! I need to uh... put something away..!" I forced a smile, hoping he wouldn't ask any more questions. He didn't. He just stared at me for a few seconds before climbing back down the stairs. "Alright," he called up to me, "don't be long." "I won't!" I yelled down the stairs as I pulled out an old cardboard box.

"I need to hide you, buddy. People are going to find you if I keep you up here! Hmm..." I looked around the attic and found another cardboard box, bigger than the one I had. "There! I'll put you inside that box! No one will look in there! Especially since it's covered in spiders!" I smiled and placed my friend inside the spider-infested hiding place. "I'll be back later! Don't go anywhere, buddy!" I started to jog down the stairs but I stopped half way. 'He needs a name.' I thought to myself. 'He's made if cardboard... cardboard boxes. I could call him cardboard box man! No, that sounds like some superhero rip-off... I know!' I grinned and looked back up the stairs, "See ya later, Cardboard Friend!!" Turning and running to the front door, I was so excited! He has a name now! That makes it official! I have a new friend! We'll be best friends forever! Him and me, and Jimmy too, of course, we'd be together forever!

'Gwegowy,' I could've sworn I heard him respond to me. I was going to turn and look to see if he was following me but it was too late. I'd already opened to door. Mom was sitting in the car, she saw me. She was giving me 'the look.' I shivered, partially because it was cold, but mainly because of her icy cold stare. I'd taken too long in the attic... oops... I put on my most innocent smile and climbed into the car.

"...... Gwegory......?"
