--- Ghost's POV ---

I stood in front of the big, brick building, staring at the amount of kids going inside. I guess the school has grown since I've left. I swear there weren't that many kids before.

I took a deep breath and walked inside, not looking around too much, afraid that I'd look new. Even though I am. Well, technically. I walked straight to the main office to see what all I had to do. You'd think that my grandparents or some adult would've come with me to help, but apparently not. I guess they think I can do it on my own. Which I can! Don't get me wrong, I'm not as dumb as I seem! I'm just... nervous, y'know?

"Excuse me, miss..?" I stood at the the desk, looking at the lady sitting there. It was the same lady that was here when I was still attending this school. "Hm? Yes, what do you need?" I tried to seem as confident as I could, but I was honestly praying that she wouldn't remember me and the things I did. I hoped no one would. Of course, I called myself something else then but.. still... "Erm, I'm Johnny Ghost. I'm supposed to check in to get all of my supplies or something...?" She nodded and turned to her computer, "Johnathan Ghost, 4th grade?" I thought for a moment then nodded, "Yes, ma'am..." she typed a few things into her computer then handed me a paper with what'd I'd assume to be a class schedule. I didn't really check.

After she told me the basic layout of the school, she directed me towards my classroom. I told her that I could find it myself and ran down the hallway to my class. Everyone else was already in there, so I just slid in the back. This is what everyone calls 'home room,' I guess. The teacher glanced at me for a moment then went back to teaching. A few kids looked back at me, but I pretended not to see them, keeping my eyes on the teacher.

The first half of the day was relatively simple. The teachers all welcomed me to school and told me to come to them if I needed any help. Except the reading teacher. He didn't seem like he was a very happy person. It was lunchtime now though. The time where all teachers were 'gone' and the kids were left to do whatever they wanted. Great. I hope these kids are nice. I know those people supposedly cured my anger issues, but I'd prefer not to test how 'cured' it is... or isn't...

I, like in most school stories, sat at the most empty and secluded table I could find. There were a few kids there, but they were at the other end of the table. I ate the lunch grandma made for me. It was pretty good, honestly. I really want to try school food sometime though. Everyone says that its horrible, so I want to see for myself. Though, seeing the way people detest it, I may regret that idea.

I got finished my meal alot quicker than everyone else, since I wasn't busy talking to other people. I cleaned up my mess and looked around the cafeteria/gym. All the kids were happy and talkative. Looking around at all those kids really makes you feel lonely... left out... oh well. I'll be fine. I've survived this long without friends, right? I can make it longer.

While I was scanning the cafeteria, I noticed another empty table. Well, almost empty table. There was a girl sitting there, her black hair covering her face. She was all alone, just like me. I wonder why... I got up and walked over to her. I stood next to her and smiled, "Hi!" She didn't respond, she only kept eating. I waited abit then sat across from her. I'm going to make friends with someone, and this girl is all alone. That's always how friendships started in those movies. "I'm Johnny! What's your name?" She ignored me again, not showing any change in emotion. Or any emotion at all for that matter. I looked down at the table, getting a little discouraged. "'Johnny' what?" she finally said. I looked up at her, but she still hadn't changed from her position. "Er, Ghost. Johnny Ghost!" She quickly looked up at me, causing me to jump slightly. "Johnny Ghost? Really??" I nodded, "Yeah...?" She glared at me, "No way. Who put you up to this? Was it John? That idiot never learns..." she looked at a boy in the corner of the room and I just looked at her, confused. "What..?" She sighed and looked back to me, "Look, stop messing with me. Go get whatever dumb thing that boy promised you. Haha, this is still sooo funny after two years..!" She went back to her emotionless look and went back to eating. I just stared at her, trying to figure out what the heck just happened.

"Uhm... excuse me... but, uh... what do you mean? Who's John?" She just looked up and glared at me again. "I swear, if you don't drop this, I will have a ghost come after you." I stared at her, wide eyed. Then shook my head and smiled, "Really?? You could do that??" She almost looked confused for a second but quickly hid it by looking down again, causing her hair to cover her face. "I can. And I will if you don't leave me alone." I ignored her warning and leaned forward abit. "No kidding!? That is awesome! That means you believe in ghosts then, right??" She waited a few seconds then nodded. "Do you know any friendly ones??" She sighed, "I used to. He's gone though. There's the ghost of a dead cat that follows me around sometimes though..."
"No way!! Can I meet him!? Or her... whichever it is!"
"... why do you want to?"
"Because I love ghosts! I've always wanted to meet one!"
"Why?" I shrugged and she sighed, "Even if I were to let you meet him, it's not like you'd be able to see him."
"How come?"
"It's a ghost, duh. You can't see ghosts."
"Oh... I've seen one before...!"
"I thought you said you'd never seen any."
"Uhhh... I-I did... but.. I've met one before.. I-I'm not supposed to talk about it though..." She gave me a confused look and finished her lunch.
"Why not?"
"Er.. well.. don't tell anyone, but, that ghost was my friend. He, uh... he messed me up quite abit... I don't know why, but..."
"Messed up how?"
"Er...." I looked down at the table, not sure I wanted to tell this stuff to a stranger.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to.."
"I, uh... I'd prefer not to, honestly..."
"Okay, that's fine."
"Sorry..."
"No, it's fine." Just then the bell rang, causing me to jump. "What's that mean??" She stood up and shook looked outside, "Recess." I stood up as well and smiled, "Really? What do you do at recess??" She looked at me, confused and replied quietly, "Most people usually play.." "Play what?" She sighed and facepalmed, "Whatever they want." "What do you play? Can I play with you??" She looked at me, almost glaring. I guess I was annoying her... "I play with that cat. You can come if you want, but it's not like there will be anything for you to do." I nodded and followed her outside.
She went to the fence at the back of the playground and sat under a tree. I sat next to her and looked around. "What're you doing?" She was just looking at me like I was crazy or something, "You act like you've never seen a tree before..." I blushed slightly, totally embarrassed that that's what it looked like, "Er, I have! It's just... I, uh... it's been so long since I've been here..." "You've been here before? I thought you looked familiar." I nodded, "A few years ago." She looked at me abit longer then looked back at the ground.
