--Gregory's POV--
I sat in the middle seat, in between my brother and a bunch of toys we were going to play with at the park. We were going to have so much fun! All of the sudden I remembered that mom wasn't too happy with me... she started driving and I looked in the rear view mirror to try and see her face. She looked a little annoyed but I don't think she's going to say anything about it. She usually doesn't.
"What took you so long, Gregory?" Shoot! I looked away from the mirror to avoid eye contact. "Uh..." I can't tell her why I took so long! It was a secret, a surprise! "Uhm, I... I... I got lost!" "In the attic?" I could hear the skepticism in her voice. I was always in the attic, so it did seem kinda odd that I'd be 'lost' up there. "Uh, yeah! The lights were off a-and I couldn't see! Yeah..!" She knew I was lying but I though she believed me.
Jimmy leaned over and whispered to me, "Really? Lost? Dude, you're bad at lying." He laughed and nudged me with his shoulder. I chuckled nervously. He knew I was lying too? Does that mean he knows what I was doing?? Does he knew about my surprise!? "You okay, Greg?" "Huh? Oh, uh.. y-yeah, I'm fine!" Geez, this lying thing is hard!! How does he do it?! Jimmy I mean. He lies all the time. He's pretty good at it too. The only way I know he's lying is because I know the truth most of the time. "Alright... but seriously, you need to learn to lie better." "Shhh!!" I covered his mouth and gave him a death glare. He just laughed. Why? Didn't I scare him?? "Why're you laughing??" He started to laugh even harder, "You look so adorable when you're angry! That look you out gave me, it was so determined!!" He didn't stop laughing so I crossed my arms and stared out the window (on the side that he wasn't on. I didn't want to look at him), secretly holding in a laugh.
---le magic time skip---
As soon as the car stopped, I jumped out, knocking over a few toys in the process. Jimmy didn't stop laughing the entire time! Well, not until mom told him to stop anyway. I picked up the toys and ran over towards the sand box. "Gregory, wait!" Mom called for me to stop but I was halfway there. I sighed and stopped running, looking back and her over my shoulder. "Aren't you going to help us with the other toys?" she motioned towards the large pile of toys in the seat. "Do I have to??" Did I really? I don't play with those dumb toys anyway, just these few. And soon I probably wouldn't play with them either. I'd just play with cardboard friend once he's finished. "If you want some ice cream, you do." Oh, ice cream... that is pretty good... "Fine." I can carry some toys if it means I get ice cream. I ran back and grabbed the smallest, lightest toys I can find. What? I'm just a kid! Don't judge.
"Hey, get back here!!" some kids ran by us in the parking lot. One with a toy dino, the other with a stuffed lion. "I need my dinner!!" the kid either the lion was chasing after the kid with the dino. I'm guessing the enter the lion to eat the dino... that was kinda mean... "Then go to a restaurant!!" dino-kid yelled back at the lion-boy as he was running away, now circling back towards the car. They were laughing and screaming at eachother, not paying attention to where they were going. "Ah!!" dino-kid tripped over a loose stone in the pavement and fell forward. I looked away, waiting to hear a scream from him hitting the pavement. But I didn't hear that... "Gotcha!" Jimmy? I opened one eye, cringing, afraid of what I'd see. Then I opened both and stared at the scene. Jimmy caught dino-kid! Just a few inches away from his face smacking into the ground. He helped dino-kid up and rustled his hair, "You gotta be more careful, buddy. You might hurt yourself!" "O-Okay, thanks..." the boy smiled shyly. "RRAAWWRRRR!!!" the kid with the lion came running from behind. I jumped out of his way and dino-boy took off running. Again. I stared at them as they ran out of sight, behind a few cars.
"Sandbox!" I shook my head and ran over to the sandbox without interruption this time. I started building a castle, a tall one too! I was up to my knees! It wasn't very good compared to the ones the other kids were making though. Theirs were taller and neater. Some had fancy flags and one even had a few stairs... I sighed as I stared at their castles, forgetting my own.
--Jimmy's POV--
I helped mom carry the toys over to a picnic table under a few trees. Gregory picked up a few toys, but not enough to make a difference. He probably only picked up those few just so he could get ice cream later. Little sneak... he always did that kinda stuff. But still, it's cute how he does that. And it's not like he does it to be mean... "HEY!! Why'd you do that!?" I heard a child yelling from the sandbox. As I looked over, I became angry. It was one of those punks from school! The boys always picked on Greg! I dropped the toys on the table and glared at the boys. No one noticed me so I decided to wait and see what would happen.
"Oh! Was that you castle? I'm sorry, I didn't see it!" He was lying! He did that on purpose! I doubt Gregory realized that though. "I worked so hard on that..!" He looked down at his masterpiece. "It's okay, just build another." 'Yeah, so you can knock it down again!' I thought to myself. That boy, I swear... if they do anything to him I'm going to beat them to a pulp. I've had enough of them. They always bully Greg. And he takes it! He thinks they like him! Someone needs to show him the truth!
"Okay! Do you want to help? We could build it together!"
"Pfft, I'm not doing anything with you, dork." That's it. I'm done. I ran over to the boys and pushed him back with all my strength. "Leave him alone!!"
"Jimmy? What are you doing?" I ignored my brothers questions and glared the bully down. "You get out of here and leave Greg alone!" He crawled back, (because he fell back when I pushed him) and stared at me for a few seconds. He was terrified, I could tell. After he was done staring he got up. A few of his friends ran over to help him. He dusted himself off, "Why should I?" What!? Is this guy that much of an idiot!? I answered with another shove. This time his friends caught him. "Jimmy, why are you-" "Because, Gregory, they're being mean to you! They always do this." "They aren't being me-" "Look at your castle! They knocked it down, Greg! That's mean, isn't it??" "H-He didn't mean to..." Oh my- this kid, I love him to death, but he can be so stupid! "Yeah, Jimmy! I didn't mean to!" And him..! He was mocking me at this point. I'd had enough. I turned around and socked him right in his nose. At this point, both our mothers had run over to us. My mom grabbed me right after I made contact with that idiot's face.
"Jimmy Casket, what in the world are you doing!?" "He was being mean to Gregory, mom!! I had to defend him, didn't I!?" "You didn't have to-..."
She sighed and apologized to the boys mother. "As for you, young man. I'll talk to you at home. Get your toys and wait at the van." She put me down and I stormed over to the table to gather my toys.
"Stupid bullies! You're lucky my mom was there or you would've gotten more than a punch..." I grabbed all the toys I could and waited by the car.
