--- Jimmy's POV ---
The officer talked with my grandparents for a few minutes. The whole time, Gregory was holding onto me. He refused to let go for some reason. He was starting to squeeze too hard though, so he agreed to just hold onto my arm. He didn't say much... I hope he's okay.
"Boys," my grandfather stuck his head in the room, "are you ready to go home?" I looked down at Greg, he still seemed upset. It was like he didn't want to go with them. But we didn't have much choice. "Yeah, we're ready." He nodded and motioned for us to come with him as we walked out to the car.
"Where's mama?" I noticed she wasn't in the car. I thought it was weird when I didn't see her with my grandparents, but I thought maybe she stayed in the car. I got worried when I didn't see her there, and even more worried when my grandfather looked at me, as if he knew something I didn't. "They didn't tell you, huh..? I guess it isn't their job..." he sighed and got in the car. "I'll explain it when we get home." I leaned over and whispered to Greg, "What's he mean? Where's mama??"
"Oh, I don't know. They won't tell me." He smiled and played with a toy car the officer gave him.
"Why not?"
"Well... they did tell me something, but they were lying. So I don't know where she really is."
"Lying? Well, what'd they say?"
"........."
"Well..?"
He mumbled something then looked out the window and pretended to drive the car on the window. "What'd you say?" He sniffed and shook his head. "Greg..? Are you okay, bud..?" He refused to look at me, "Y-Yeah, of course!" He was lying. But why? What'd they tell him??
--- Gregory's POV ---
I looked away from my brother, not wanting to tell him what the told me. I was afraid they were right. Everything that happened, it seemed too real to be fake. But I refuse to believe it. She isn't dead, I know she isn't. And... Jimmy will be upset when he finds out. He has anger issues already.. from when papa died... and now that mama's gone.... I'm almost afraid to see what happens. I wasn't going to tell him. He'd get upset. If someone else tells him.. which they will...
I sighed and hugged my toy car. It was a pretty car. It was a... a conv.. convertible..? Yeah, I think that's what they're called. It was a pretty, red convertible. It was fast too! If you pulled it backwards and let go, it would zoom forward!! Its awesome! I can't wait to show-.... box friend... I miss box friend... maybe Jimmy and I can visit him! "Hey, Jimmy!" "Yeah, Greg?" "Can we go see box friend soon?? I miss him.." He looked back to me confused, "You act like we're never going back home." He sighed as I shrugged. I looked back out the window and played with my toy until we got 'home'.
