-- Jimmy's POV--
Mom lectured me for atleast an hour, but, in all honesty, I didn't listen to a thing she said. I just nodded whenever she asked me a question. It's not like it's the first time I've gotten this lecture. She changes it abit each time, but she basically tells me that violence is wrong and I should tell a parent if someone's being mean. Yeah, well guess what, mom, you weren't there! You don't know what they said and what they did! Who are you to say my actions weren't justified!?
Once she was done with the lecture, she sent me to my room and told me that I wasn't allowed outside for a few days, as punishment. Yeah, big deal... I hate going outside anyway...
I walked back to my room, hands in my pockets, head down. I left the door cracked, but closed it most of the way. That was another one of the rules in the house: no closed doors. Mom said it was for safety reasons, but it's not. It's just because she doesn't trust me. She thinks I'm dangerous! I'm not dangerous! I just... have some issues... I sighed and face planted onto my bed, not wanting anything to do with anyone at the time.
-- Gregory's POV --
There was a bright light, I think. Yeah... definitely bright. Really, really bright... "Ow... my eyes..." I rubbed my eyes and looked around the attic. "... Box friend..? Where'd you go, Box friend?" I looked around behind a few boxes. Nothing. Weird... I wonder where he- "BOO!!" Found him!!
"Ahh!!"
"Did I scare you, Gwegowy?!"
"YES!! You scared me to death!!"
"Oh, I'm sowwy, Gwegowy..."
Was he sad? I didn't know he could be sad... "It's okay, box friend! It was funny!" I laughed and hugged him. Heh... have you ever hugged a cardboard box before...? It was weird! And... wait, where's the tape!? I let go of him and stepped back. He doesn't have any tape or glue on him anymore. And the face I cut into him... it was perfect! The circles and the triangles were perfectly spaced and were the same size! "Box friend..? Where'd the tape go? You look great!!" "I got wid of it, Gwegowy! I didn't need it anymore, it wouldn't wet me move!" "Cool!" I laughed and grabbed box friend, pulling him in a circle around the attic. We played for a while and I eventually got tired. I yawned, hugging my new friend, "I think it's my nap time, Box friend..."
"Nap time? But we have to pway, Gwegowy! You don't have to sweep!"
"But I'm tired..."
"You can sweep later, Gwegowy! Let's play more now!!"
Before I could say anything, he picked me up and ran around, holding my like an airplane. I quickly forgot about my tiredness.-- Jimmy's POV --
... Ugh... this day sucks... I'm tired!! I want to sleep!! Is there something wrong with sleeping!? Everyone was making noise!! Mom was watching TV and Greg was running around in the attic. I even buried my head under both my pillows and that didn't help! I groaned and got out if bed, "I just want five minutes! That's all I'm asking for!" I don't dare to ask mom to turn the TV off, especially after what happened earlier. I decided to ask, or tell, Gregory to settle down. I threw on my oversized hoodie and dredged up the stairs.
"Gregory!! Can you please quiet down?? I'm trying to- ... what is that?" A box monster thing? What?? It looks like a person decided to wear a bunch of cardboard boxes instead of actual clothes. They were both sitting down having a... tea party?! Isn't that what girls do!? And where'd they get the tea from..?
"Hi, Jimmy! This is Box friend, my new friend!! I built him so I could show him to my friends! They said I should make him so everyone could see him! And I did!! I was going to tell you about him but I, uh... I got distracted... hey, c'mon! Join the party!!"
"Uhhh.... o-okay...""Yay!!" he jumped up and dragged me over to their 'party'. It was just a few cups and a pitcher laid ontop of a flattened cardboard box. But.. there was actually tea and sugar... I think.
"Here! Have some tea!! It's really good! Box friend made it himself!!" I looked at 'Box friend', confused at my brother's statement. Wait... it's smiling now... that's not the expression it had before... was it? It must've been. There's no way it could've changed. Is there? "C'mon, Jimmy, try some! It's good!!" I shrugged it off and sipped some of the tea.Boy, that didn't help wake me up at all! It just made me even more tired. The only thing keeping me awake right now is my curiosity. What is this thing? Why does Greg think it's alive?? I nodded to tell him that the tea was good then I stood up. The grinned back and started scarfing down the rest of the tea. I, on the other hand, began to investigate 'Box friend'. It was weird, there was nothing holding it together. Impressive for an arts and crafts project of a 6 yr old. And the eyes.. the eyes were just... creepy... perfectly round and pitch black. I stared at them for a second. That was a second too long. I felt something change. I was no longer tired, I was hyper. Hyper and happy. But also scared. What the heck is this thing!?
By this point, Gregory was asleep on the floor, leaving me alone with this box thing. I looked at Greg and back to box friend, making the mistake of looking into its eyes again. I immediately looked away again. After a while I decided to look back. It's expression changed again. It was back to normal now. Two circles and a triangle mouth. Creepy... I went to touch the eyes. They had to be marker. He used a stencil and a marker, that had to be it.
Nope. As I made 'contact' with its eye, I became dizzy. I noticed my finger went into his eye. It was engulfed by the darkness. I pulled it back, almost instantly relieving the dizziness. Okay, that's really weird... but hey, I'm not tired anymore!! Heh, I feel pretty good!! I feel great, actually!! I laughed then covered my mouth, remembering that Gregory was asleep.I picked him up with much difficulty. Even though he's small for his age, we're not very far apart in age, making him pretty heavy to me. I slowly and cautiously carried Greg down the stairs and put him in his room. On the floor though. I'm not strong enough to get him on this bed.
My mind was still racing, my heart pounding, but I was actually still tired, I could feel it. My body was tired but my mind was awake. Yet another weird thing about today. I decided to take a nap anyway, so I walked back to my room, took off my hoodie, and climbed in bed. What is that thing??
