--- Jimmy's POV ---The ride home, as usual, was a quite ride. Again. We talked about what we wanted for dinner about a dozen times and somehow convinced my grandparents to stop on the way home and get us ice cream. That made Katrina and me happy. Thought Katrina ate it abit too fast and gave herself a brain freeze. I'll be honest, I feel kinda bad for laughing at her. But, hey! It was funny! The look on her face! It seemed that she was frozen in time! Heh, pardon the pun.
"So, what do you do for fun..?" We had arrived home and gave Katrina a tour of the house. We were sitting in front of the tv watching some dumb kids show that my grandparents were convicted I liked. I didn't, by the way. "Uhh... well, I usually just... I just do homework most of the day.. and then go back to the trees and sit there for and while."
"Ohhhh, sounds fun! Do you ever climb the trees?"
"Yeah, sometimes. I've gotten pretty good and climbing them. I can climb most anything now..."
"Really? Hmmmm..." She looked and round the house, "How about up there?? Can you climb up there?" She pointed to a large crossbeam in the ceiling them smirked and looked at me. Not thinking, I got up and jumped onto the couch below the beam. "'Course I can!" I smirked back and her and the started scaling the wall. She watched me as I eventually reached the beam, sitting on it triumphantly. She laughed and smiled at me, "Nice going, weirdo," I couls tell she was joking so I didn't get upset. "Now, how're you gonna get down?" Oh shoot.... "Uhhhhmm..." I looked around the room and down at the floor. "H-Heh... oops..." "Ya stuck?" "Mhm..." She laughed then ran off to get help. I just sat up there and waited.Looking around, I could see the entire living room. The tv, the rug, the window, the plants, everything you'd expect of a living room. Even the photos.... mostly or Grandma and Grandpa, but some of us too... Mom and me... and Greg... I sighed and stared at the pictures fro, up on the beam. "Is this what you see, mom? You're up in the sky, right? This us be how everything looks to you. All small and weird looking... I miss you..." I went to put my head in my hands but started to fall over. This beam wasn't very wide and I wasn't very small. I easily started sliding. I probably would've been fine had I not panicked, but when you're this high off the ground, falling seems like an instant death. In retrospect, it wasn't that bad. I was only about 10 feet off the ground, it might've hurt, but I'm sure if be fine.
However, this wasn't retrospect. This was rightnow-spect. I jumped, making me fly backwards instead of forwards. I somehow managed to grab hold of the curtain rod. I held on for dear life and didn't let go for anything. I pulled myself up and wrapped my arms around the rod, making sure I wouldn't fall. Hugging the rod, I closed me eyes and waited impatiently for help to come.
Eventually, I felt my Grandfather's hands on me and I, as if instinctively, let go of the rod and fell into his arms. I grabbed him and hugged him as hard as I could, out of pure fear. I thought I was going to die there! It seemed like an eternity before they got there! Oh, that was terrifying! I wasn't crying, but I wouldn't be suprised if I was. That was one of the most terrifying things I had ever done. I, of course, got a speech about how climbing is dangerous and how I should be more careful, but I didn't pay attention. I was too busy thinking about how happy I was to be alive. (Man, I over exaggerated alot, didn't I?) After the speech came dinner. Finally! I was HUNGRY!
