I spent a lot of the last week of the holidays wondering how Draco Malfoy was going to try to kill me. I couldn't help thinking about it. I tried to distract myself with books, Hermione recommended her copy of Advanced Rune Translation. It was interesting but I would catch my thoughts wandering to the Malfoy situation. I thought of how his eyes narrowed when he saw the trio in Madam Malkin's, how he then looked around the shop searching for me. Would he have killed me right then? Would he have taken that chance?

The trio still didn't tell me about their little adventure. During Harry's visits, they kept to themselves, discussing what they saw. Harry always looked excited during these little talks, but Ron and Hermione looked bored.

On one of the last days of summer holidays, Harry came over and the trio was up in Ron's room. I thought of maybe joining them, but they still wouldn't talk to me about it. Instead I did my laundry with Ginny, who also was kept out of the secret.

We both were growing tired of Fleur, who was on full flow about plans for the wedding to Bill. Ginny soon had enough of this and got her un-folded laundry and went to the stairs, mumbling about finishing it in her room.

Just as she had left, Harry had entered the room, looking annoyed.

"... Bill and I 'ave almost decided on only two bridesmaids, Ginny and Gabrielle will look very sweet togezzer. I am theenking of dressing zem in pale gold-pink would of course be 'orrible with Ginny's 'air-"

"Ah, Harry!" said Mrs. Weasley, cutting across Fleur's monologue. "Good, I wanted to explain about the security arrangements for the journey to Hogwarts tomorrow. We've got Ministry cars again, and there will be Aurors waiting at the station-"

"Is Tonks going to be there?" asked Harry.

"No, I don't think so, she's been stationed somewhere else."

"She has let 'erself go, zat Tonks," Felur mused, examining her own stunning reflection in the back of a teaspoon. "A big mistake if you ask-"

"No one did," I said coldly, cutting across her sentence.

"You'd better get on, Harry. You'll need to be here bright and early, I want your trunk ready tonight if possible, no usual last-minute scramble."

And, our departure the next morning was very smooth. The Ministry cars glided up to the front of the Burrow to find us waiting, trunks packed; Hermione's cat, Crookshanks, and my own cat, Riley, safely enclosed in their traveling baskets; and Hedwig, Ron's owl; and both Ginny's and my new Pygmy Puffs, in cages.

"Au revoir, 'Arry," said Fleur throatily, kissing him goodbye. I was next to Fred, he would be coming with us to the station, but I still wanted as much time as we could get together.

There was no cheerful Hagrid waiting for us at King's Cross Station. Instead, two grim-faced, bearded  Auror's in dark Muggle suits moved forward the moment the cars stopped and, flanking the party,

marched us to the station without speaking.

"Quick, quick, through the barrier," said Mrs. Weasley, who seemed a little flourished by the efficiency. "Harry better go first, with-"

She looked at the Aurors, one who nodded briefly, seized Harry's upper arm and attempted to steer him towards the barrier between platform's nine and ten. Sirius followed them, then Fred and I, Hermione, Ginny, Ron, and then Mrs. Wealsey and the other Auror.

"You got your journal?" asked Fred when it was time for me to board the train.

"Yes, I'll write you tonight, okay?" I said, looking up at his blue eyes.
