I woke up, trying to figure out why I was up so early, I glanced at the clock in my room. It was half past five. We picked out a room for me to stay in, an empty one that Tonks would use when she had to sleep over here. Some of her things were here in there, but my brand new trunk was filled with all of my Hogwarts things. The closet was full of my clothes. I got up and went to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth.  Harry's hearing was today. He would be getting up about now. I looked around the hall way and saw Riley and Crookshanks playing together. Riley was cashing Crookshanks while he walked.

I walked down the stairs softly, passing the heads of Kreacher's ancestors, and into the kitchen.

I pushed open the door and saw Lupin, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Sirius, and Tonks sitting there, waiting for Harry. They were all dressed besides Mrs. Weasley, who was in a lilac dressing gown. When she saw me, she pulled out her wand and said, "Breakfast?" then hurried to make me food without my answer.

"M-m-moring, Lils," Tonks yawned. Her hair was blond and curly this morning.

"Morning, Tonks," I said, streching out my arms.

"I've been up all night- Oh hello Harry." Tonks said as Harry walked in the door.

"What do you want for breakfast, Harry and Lily?" Mrs Weasley called. "Porridge? Muffins? Kippers? Bacon and eggs? Toast?"

"Just- just toast, thanks" said Harry his voice was more dead than usual.

"I'll have a muffin, Mrs. Weasley" I replied with a smile.

Lupin glanced at Harry and I, then said to Tonks, "What were you saying about Scrimgeour?"

"Oh. . . yeah . . . well, we need to be a bit more careful, he's been asking Kingsley and me funny questions.."

Harry was waiting for his toast, but looked really uncomfortable with himself. When Mrs. Weasley placed his toast in front of him, he barely ate it. Mrs. Weasley started to fuss with Harry's T-shirt, tucking in the label and smoothing out the creases across the shoulders.

"....and I'll have to tell Dumbledore I can't do night duty tomorrow, I'm just to tired," Tonks finished, yawning hugely again.

"I'll cover for you, " said Mr Weasley. " I'm okay, I've got a report to finish anyway...."

"You should try coffee," I suggested to Tonks.

"I can't it sends my changes into hyperdrive..." she ywaned, resting her eyes.

Mr Weasley was not wearing wizard's robes but a pair of pinstriped trousers and an old bomber jacket.

"How are you feeling?" he asked Harry.

Harry shrugged, staring at his toast.

"It'll all be over soon," Mr Weasley said bracingly. "In a few hours time you'll be cleared. The hearing's on my floor, in Amelia Bones Office. She's head of Department of Magical Law Enforcement and she's the one who'll be questioning you."

"Amelia Bones is okay, Harry," said Tonks earnestly. "She's fair, she'll hear you out."

Harry nodded, staring at his toast.

"Don't lose your temper," said Sirius abruptly. "Be polite and stick to the facts."

Harry nodded again, still staring at his toast. I finished off my muffin.

"The law's on your side," said Lupin quietly. "Even underage wizards are allowed to use magic in life-threatening situations."

Mrs. Weasley started to attack Harry's hair with a wet comb. " Does it ever lie flat?" she said desperately.

Harry shook his head, staring at his toast. Mr. Weasley checked his watch.

"I think we'll go now," he said "We're a bit early, but I think you'll be better off there than hanging around here."

"Okay." Harry automatically said, tearing his eyes away from his toast.

"You'll be alright, Harry," said Tonks, patting him on the arm.

"Good luck," said Lupin. "I'm sure it'll be fine."

"And if it's not," said Sirius grimly, "I'll see to Amelia Bones for you...."

Harry smiled weakly. I stood up and gave him a hug and whispered in his ear, "You'll be fine."

Then Mrs. Weasley hugged him. "We've all got our fingers crossed," she said.

"Right" said Harry. "We'll...see you later then."

...

It seemed like years before Harry came back, but it was sooner than any one guessed. When Harry told everyone Ron yelled "I KNEW IT!" and punched the air. "You always get away with stuff!"

"They were bound to clear you," said Hermione, who looked positively faint with anxiety when Harry entered the kitchen and was now hold a shaking hand over her eyes. "There was no case against you, none at all...."

"Everyone seems quite relieved, though, considering they all knew I'd get off, " said Harry, smiling. I laughed.

Mrs. Weasley was wiping her face on her apron, and Fred, George, and Ginny were doing a dance to a chant that went "He got off, he got off, he got off—"

"That's enough, settle down!" shouted Mr. Weasley, though he too was smiling. "Listen, Sirius, Lucius Malfoy was at the Ministry—"

"What?" said Sirius sharply.

"He got off, he got off, he got off—"

"Be quiet, you three! Yes, we saw him talking to Fudge on level nine, then they went up to Fudge's office together. Dumbledore ought to know."

"Absolutely," said Sirius. "We'll tell him, don't worry."

"Well, I'd better get going, there's a vomiting toilet in Bethnal Green waiting for me. Molly, I'd be late, I'm covering for Tonks, but Kingsley might be dropping in for dinner—-"

"He got off, he got off, he got off—"

"That's enough —- Fred —- George —- Ginny!" said Mrs Weasley, as Mr Weasley left the kitchen. "Harry dear, come and sit down, have some lunch, you hardly ate breakfast..."

I sat myself next to Harry as he sat down with Hermione next to me and Ron on the other side of Harry. The gloom in the house seemed warmer and more welcoming all of the sudden, even Kreacher looked less ugly.

" 'Course, once Dumbledore turned up on your side, there was no way they were going to convict you, " said Ron, happily now dishing great mounds of mashed potatoes onto everyone's plate.

" Yeah, I wish he—" Harry started but then his hand flew up to his forehead.

"What just happened?" I asked.

"I don't know, must be a head ache,"  Harry said, shrugging but not meeting anyone's gaze.

Everyone was helping themselves to food while gloating over Harry's escape. Fred, George and Ginny were still singing. Finally, Mrs. Weasley yelled "SHUT UP!"
