Christmas Chapter
.
Have a magical Holiday!"Are you all right, Harry, dear? " asked Mrs Weasley, leaning across Ginny to speak to Harry as the train rattled along through its dark tunnel. "You don't look very well. Are you feeling sick?"
We all watched him. He shook his head violently and looked up at am advertisement for home insurance.
We had left St. Mungo's very late so we could get some rest at headquarters. No one looked Harry in the eye, scared that he was possessed. I, however, didn't look away from Harry's face, trying to catch his eye. The others were stupid, there was no way that Voldemort could possess the boy.
I knew better than them, I knew Harry was an unplanned Horcrux and that he could see into Voldemort's mind. I still felt as if I were moving through water, everything seemed slow and unnatural.
At Grimmauld Place Harry went straight to the room he shared with Ron, Mrs Weasley told him to get some rest. I followed him closely.
I followed him right into his bedroom and sat at the edge of his bed. He turned to me, a surprised look on his face.
"What are you doing?" Harry asked. "I could attack you, he could..."
I laughed, "Harry don't be silly! How could Voldemort possess you?"
"I dunno but it's possible, he could have turned me into a snake and then took me to the Ministry..."
"That makes no sense, how could he posses you in the first place, I've read all about people possessing each other, and the person would forget things... Like Ginny, she told me about her first year at Hogwarts and that Voldemort would make her do things like opening the Chamber of Secrets, and she told me that she would have blank periods were she couldn't remember what she was doing. " I rambled on. " Can you remember everything you've been doing? Are there big blank periods were you don't remember what you've been up to?"
"No," he said unwillingly.
"Then Voldemort has never possessed you," I said simply.
"What if Voldemort somehow transported me to London-? "
"You can't Apparate or Disapparate inside of Hogwarts," I reminded him seriously.
Harry thought about it for a while, then smile at me. At that moment, Ron chose to come in.
"Mum is making us food then she is going back to St. Mungo's, you okay?" Ron asked.
"Never better, " Harry smiled widely.
Together we headed downstairs.
The following morning everybody spent the morning putting up Christmas decorations. I never seen Sirius in such a good mood, even in the sad circumstances he shown a light into the dark night. He was actually singing carols, delighted that he was having company over Christmas and showing it in his vocals.
Harry was doing better, the suggestion that Voldemort was possessing him slipped his mind, and no one bothered him about it, thinking better of it. Now, Harry was more worried about Mr Weasley. There was close to no chance of him surviving past Christmas. Mrs Weasley wanted to bring him here but St. Mungo's won't allow it, saying he wouldn't survive the journey.
I was riddled with guilt. I knew I messed something up, Mr Weasley is supposed to survive the snake attack. Could me delaying Neville getting McGonagall be why Mr Weasley won't live?
Sirius's delight at having a full house again was infectious. He was no longer the sullen host of the summer. Now he was determined that everyone should enjoy themselves as much, if not more, than we would at Hogwarts. He worked tirelessly in the run-up to Christmas Day, cleaning and decorated with our help, so by the time we all went to bed on the night before Christmas Eve, the house was barely recognizable. The tarnished chandeliers were no longer hung with cobwebs but with garlands of holly and gold and silver steamers. Magical snow glittered in heaps over the threadbare carpets. A great Christmas tree, obtained by Mundungus and decorated with live fairies blocked the Black family tree from view. Even the stuffed elf heads on the wall wire Santa Hats and beards.
