Days seemed like years, yet months seemed like days. Time seemed warped as though it had never existed in the first place, yet for me did ever even exist? Once every few days, the Malfoys would feed us. If Dobby could manage, he would bring us his Masters' leftovers; simple table scraps for the humans down in the basement. I wasn't the only one Dobby would visit, however. He told me how that Dumbledore asked him to be in communication with his brother, Aberforth when he was dead. Dobby offered to let the others know through Aberforth where I was, but I didn't want them to know what was happening truly. Fred was worried enough, the amount of pain he would go through knowing what was happening to me would... I couldn't do that to him. It was hard enough not to leave with Dobby, but I knew my job was here now.If I left, how long would it take me to find Fred? What if the Death Eaters found him first? Harry was correct in breaking up with Ginny, it was his weakness. Fred became and was mine. I felt like a failure as if I wasn't fully doing what I needed to. I decided I had a new job. Draco Malfoy.
What seemed like forever ago, Dumbledore wanted me to help him. This changed when he was actively trying to kill me. But now, when he wasn't allowed to kill me as I beneficial to them, I was finally able to start this heavy wish of Dumbledore.
Draco Malfoy began to take me out of the basement a few times. This is when I tried. He would let me feel like a person again, showering, brushing my teeth, using a real toilet. All these things I had taken for granted.
"I still don't understand the catch," I told him as I scrubbed shampoo into my hair. Draco sat on the toilet, reading a book. I couldn't be left alone for worry my good behavior wouldn't extend to the restroom.
"Your position is blocking," he said sarcastically, referencing my Keeper position I had the 5th year. I froze, closing my eyes and trying to stop the thought before an aching pain ripped through my being.
"I meant, why you are letting me do this," I said, slightly worried. "What aren't you telling me?"
"That's not your place to ask," he said curtly. I glanced at him around the silk shower curtain. He had put his book down, it rested on his knee.
"Fine," I said. "I'm just worried that I'm falling into a trap..."
"There's no trap," Malfoy sighed. "Can't you just let me take care of you without all this hesitation? Can't you trust me?"
I rolled my eyes.
"Can you trust me?" I murmured back.
"Good point," he said, I heard him turn a page.
"What are you reading?" I asked, returning to my shower.
"Advanced Dark Arts."
"Always such a surprise," I said sarcastically.
"Literature can no longer fill my days, Potter," he sighed, almost wistful.
"What a sad existence," I mused. He chuckled.
"Coming from you, someone who was kidnapped and is held in a cellar, that's rough."
I laughed dully as I finished my shower and turned the goddy silver knob to off. As I pulled on knew clothes behind the curtain, I heard Draco stand suddenly.
"What is it?" I asked, nervous from his suddenly rigid and less fluid behavior.
"I'm being called..."
I stepped out of the shower, fully dressed, and saw the utter fear in his eyes. He was being transparent with me for once. There was no mask.
"Do you know why?" I whispered.
