(Dedicated to lunaannabethlovegood for being an amazing human being)
I went across the lake with Professor Grubbly-Plank, who was taking the place of Hagrid, as teacher of Care Of Magical Creatures.
The Hogwarts castle was beautiful. The water moved soudlessly and the lights from many windows reflected on it was quite breathtaking. The first years were very quiet. I could see shadows move behind the windows. Then the clouds decided to sprinkle
then rain
then pour.
By the time we were in the castle, it looked like we all took a dip in the lake, ruining my nice hair. Yay, the school's first impression of me would be a soaking wet dog. I looked down at my white. Correction, the school's first impression of me would be a soaking wet slutty dog. I tried to move my robes to cover my chest.
We walked up the stone steps, and then we're passed onto Professor McGonagall, a woman with a tight bun a stern face.
"Oh, we can have puddles all over, can we," she stated and with a swish of her wand, we were all dry. Thank Merlin!
"You are about to be sorted in to houses. Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and Slytherin are the houses. Your house will be your family. You can win points for your house for good deeds. Or loose points for misbehaving. I will see if the Headmaster is ready," she basically summerized and then left
The first years stood quietly waiting for her return, no one talking above a whisper. Some of them looked at me funny, like I didn't belong with them, but well, I didn't. I was a lot older and taller than them so it was hard to blend in with the crowd. I was also the only girl who had suffered from the see through bra show.
Professor McGonagall was back suddenly, with a stool, and the sorting hat, which was heavily patched and darned with a wide rip near the frayed brim, then lead us into the Great Hall.
The buzz of talk in the Great Hall died away. The first years lined up in front of the staff table facing the rest of the students, and Professor McGonagall placed the stool carefully in front of them, then stood back. The whole school waited with bated breath. Then the rip near the hat's brim opened wide like a mouth and the Sorting Hat burst into song :
In times of old when I was new
And Hogwarts barely started
The founders of our noble school
Thought never to be parted:
United by a common goal,
They had the selfsame yearning,
To make the world's best magic school
And pass along their learning.
"Together we will build and teach!"
The four good friends decided
And never did they dream that they
Might someday be divided,
For were there such friends anywhere
As Slytherin and Gryffindor?
Unless it was the second pair
Of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw?
So how could it have gone so wrong?
How could such friendships fail?
Why, I was there and so can tell
The whole sad, sorry tale.
Said Slytherin, "We'll teach just those
