Hermione and Ron left the hospital wing completely cured three days before the end of term. I would greatly miss Hogwarts, but was looking forward to some girl time with Ginny and Hermione. Harry was unset that he had to return to Privet Dr, but was willing to wait until Sirius sorted out custody issues.
Professor Umbridge left Hogwarts the day before term ended. She had crept out of the hospital wing during sinner, evidently hoping to depart unnoticed, but unfortunately for her, she met Peeves on the way, who seized his last chance to do as Fred had instructed and chased her gleefully from the premises, whacking her alternately with a walking stick and a sock full of chalk. McGonagall couldn't stop her, but she didn't really try, she just said she wasn't able to chase after her because Peeves took her walking stick.
The last day of school had arrived: most people had finished packing. Harry didn't even start packing yet, so I was helping him in his dorm.
"Why haven't you packed?" I asked as I magically folded his robes and clothes.
"I don't wan to go," said Harry, talking about going to Privet Dr.
"Oh," I said.
"They are horrible, they starve me there and-"
I got up from the floor. "Come on," I said.
"Where are we going?" Harry asked, getting up, too.
"I don't want you to starve," I said, grabbing a bag.
I lead him to the Entrance Hall and towards the portrait of a bowl of fruit.
"We are going to the kitchens?" Harry asked.
"Yep," I said, tickling the pear in the painting. It squirmed and laughed, transforming into a green door knob. I grasped the knob and twisted it, and the door to the kitchens swung open.
The kitchen is a gigantic, high ceilinged room with five tables identical to the ones in the Great Hall. Pots and pans were in heaps around the room on tables. At the end of the room a large brick fireplace at the other end of the room, opposite from the door.
"Lily-?" Harry started.
"Call Dobby," I said. The kitchen was full of house elves preparing for the feast.
"No need, Miss," said a house elf with tennisball sized eyes coming towards Harry and I. Dobby was wearing probably every piece of clothing that Hermione had made this school year, he layers of socks and hats all stacked on top of each other. "How may Dobby be of service?"
"Harry, here is in need of food for the summer, he is afraid of starving," I explained to him.
"Lily, I am sure they are to busy to be fetching me food-"
"Never," cried Dobby, "Harry Potter has just survived the Dark Lord's servents, my old master, and put them in Azkaban. Dobby will to anything to help Mr Harry Potter, sir,"
"Dobby, I had help," Harry said.
"Always so modest, Harry Potter is," said Dobby. "Dobby will go and get Harry Potter and his friend food, but first I must finish putting Winky to sleep."
Harry and I followed the house elf over to where a drunken elf in a stained dress, who kept hick-uping.
Dobby put Winky in the hammock, and tucked her in, and put a bottle of butter beer next to her. It was sad to see how much Winky struggled with herself, but sweet to see how much Dobby cared for her.
"Follow me," said Dobby, leading us to a bench and sitting us down. "I will get Mr Harry Potter some cakes and foods for him."
Dobby filled the bag with sweets and cakes and bars for him. Harry and I left with the food, and headed back up to the dormitory.
